Looking for precision weight scale

Yes, it does measure in grains. I use the same technique as Ian. I throw a charge with my Redding Br 30, put the pan on the scale and trickle with my Omega trickler that is sticking through the side window. This works faster than my RCBS Chargemaster and is way more accurate. Jim, you won't be disappointed, it's a great deal.

Just a query re the FX-120i - the video on the balances.com site goes through all the various weights but does not mention grains. The brochure lists grains - before I buy one can anyone confirm that it does measure grains ? I am sure it does and suspect the voice over on the video probably just forgot to include grains in the narrative.

thanks
Martin
Martin, I saw the same video and had the same question and like Jim I downloaded the pdf and it did mentioned grains. On Monday I tried to contact Cambridge on the telephone and left a message and sent them a email but no matter what I did I could not get a hold of them during the day or get them to answer my inquires. I had several questions I wanted to ask them about the scale. By the end of the day with no responses I was starting to consider if I really wanted to buy from them when for some reason I wondered if it might be a Canadian holiday. I Googled it and sure enough the first Monday in August in Canada is a holiday so they were closed for the day. I called them the first thing on Tuesday morning and there they were. With my questions answered I ordered it and it was shipped within a hour. I also found on their website some 250 ml plastic wash bottles I needed and I included them in my order. They are the kind you can hold upright and squeeze and the liquid will come out the bent tube on top. They are very handy in cleaning rifles, especially squirting into the slot in the cleaning rod guide. They had the wash bottles in several sizes.

maybe we should have tried to work a group buy , HA HA HA

I'm not sure if all these will ship from the same location , but mine is being shipped from the state of Georgia .

I'll also be using my scale by putting the majority of the powder in then trickle up to spec , with my omega . so I wanted a scale without the lag . I think these should be a good reloading scale .

Did you buy yours from Cambridge Environmental in Canada, that is where several of us forum members have ordered from in the past week and mine was shipped from there. It was $400 Canadian which was around $390 US dollars, great price. It was such a good deal that I called A & D in California the manufacture of the scale to make sure they were not seconds or used and they told me they were brand new and Cambridge was one of their best dealers.

Thanks to lil evil for his post early on in this thread about this great deal.

I just got off the phone with Cambridge customer service and picked up some interesting information. Most of the FX-120i scales have been shipped from their warehouse in Georgia unless you also ordered other items like I did and those items were in stock in their Canadian warehouse so the whole order came from Canada. He said the response has been so good from our forum group that the Georgia warehouse is down to 3 scales but the one in Canada has plenty. Also the scale will be increasing in price to $600-$650 around the end of Sept. He gave me a lot of information about Strain Gauge scales vs Magnetic Force Restoration scales. He said the Magnetic Force scale is much superior especially in time to weigh, drift and accuracy. Go to the first part of this thread and watch the video that was posted on this subject. The video pretty much follows what he told me. I have a GemPro 250 and was getting tired of the drift which has continued to increase over time and the GemPro 250 is a strain gauge scale.

You're welcome guys. I'm glad that I could pass it on to everyone. Just finishing up day one of a three day 1000 yard match and I'm really pleased at how my vertical has shrunk, using this scale. It does make a big difference when you know your loads are all within a gain of varget, very consistent.

I received my scale today . I didn't do any reloading , but I did warm it up a little and play with some powder trickling , I'm well pleased . FYI , one kernel of H1000 weighs .04 ::)

Martin , yes this scale does weigh in grains .

snakepit , it looks as though we are buying at the right time . 50% price increase , ouch .

A couple other pieces of information from Cambridge. The customer service guy told me that one of their customers was the Canadian Army which purchased them to use in reloading for competition shooting and that the army was extremely happy with them. He knows that they are selling them way below other dealers at $400 Canadian verses a MSRP of $925 US and $650 to $700 from some of the internet dealers. He said at $400 it is the cheapest Magnetic Force Restoration scale out there and they have been selling it at this low price trying to get people to try Magnetic Force Restoration Scales and realize what a differences there is instead of cheaper Strainguage Scales. He said when it comes to Magnetic Force Restoration Scales that even at $650 this scale is a good deal for what you get.

Mine came in today from Georgia also. I was playing with it tonight, very nice scale and you can't beat the price. Thanks again lil Evil.

Mine came in yesterday and I loaded 150 rounds last night. It was easy to set up and is very stable. I had no drift problems and calibration is simple. What a change from my 123! Lil Evil you saved quite a few of us some serious cash and I thank you. I am very happy so far with this scale.

Got mine in last evening. Set it up in just a few minutes. Look forward to loading for a big State match at the end of the month. Thanks to everyone for the info and follow up info from Cambridge.

UPS delivered mine yesterday - I'm chomping at the bit to get it set up and try it, but had a gun club board meeting last night, and am delivering a completed rifle to its owner today.....will most certainly get it up-and-running this evening, as I've got a bunch of 280 AI LR & 260 Imp 30* ammo to load.

I guess they ran out of stock in GA - I ordered mine Monday a week ago and the order has never updated to show tracking like the email invoice I received said it would. After requesting an update via phone now for a few days in a row, I finally get told by Cambridge sales rep its been shipped but from CA, not GA and not Canada.

Sales rep told me I'd have the scale today, but when I pull it up with the tracking they provided, its just left CA and not scheduled for delivery until Wed (estimated) next week. Sales also told me it took time to unpack the scale and verify operation and then re-pack it for shipment. Anybody else heard this?

After loading 100+rounds with the Fx-120i, I'm impressed with the lack of drift, and with how quickly it locks on, even with the speed set at the mid setting. I know it's no Prometheus II, but it'll do until I hit a Powerball jackpot.
