Long range load development at 100 yards.

Once you get charge decided and do seating depth test...... if all your seating depths hit same POI basically but group size changes in and out does that show you are in a node?

It's a good sign, but seating depth can also change the POI of groups.

Erik,

Would the initial charge increment of 0.5 grains for 6.5x47 Lapua translate to something like 0.3 grains for 223 Rem and the like?

Yes. .223 I would do .2 increments.

Erik I am saying when I did my seating test, all had very close to same POI just groups got big and smaller than others. But held POI closely
I had the same in my .284

POI did not change one bit at 100yds.

I just want to share my 6.5 SAUM 4S .296" neck results. Shot off bipod and rear bag. No Chronograph data, and wish I did. However, next time I will during seating depth test. After seating I plan to revisit power charge in smaller increments.

Load Data:

Erik, when in the opening post you said to load 4 rounds 1 fouler and 3 for group are you cleaning between groups or is it that while reloading at the bench enough time passes to cool the barrel so then 1 shot to warm it up again?
thanks vano

No, I shoot them before I shoot my groups to see where my max pressure is.

This helps foul the barrel at the same time. After I shoot one shot of each charge and find max pressure, I let gun cool down and then start shooting for groups. I will shoot 3-4 groups stopping between groups to write data down before letting gun cool again.
