I use Lightburn. Here is a little cheat sheet I got. This is based on 30W. It’s been pretty close. Just have to play with the passes.

Aaron, are you engraving the plate & barrel with ezcad or have you installed lightburn? Asking because I have taken a chance and ordered one from eBay/China.

Thank you,
Hank

I started with ezcad and then Lighbtburn... Both take some fiddling to get working right. If you're just doing basic marking... ezcad is fine.

It's sort of like ms paint vs photoshop.

It's worth paying a couple bucks to get into the lasereverything masterclass and go through the training courses. They're dry and slow but the info you need is there.

I’m 99% sure that’s the one I have, mine is a 30w. I use lightburn.

I had a Polaris Ranger and a buddy had this engraver, we figured out a mutually beneficial trade and I now have the laser. The major advantage is he gave me all the settings for stuff and the setup. The previous picture is 3 different settings deep engrave, dark engrave and the bottom one is a deep engraved with a white pass (removed all the black).

Deer season opened Saturday so I haven’t got back to messing with it anymore.

Picture?

Dumb question... You achieve that depth by doing multiple passes, right? The machine specs say something like .003 depth - but I'd just do a bunch of passes to get to the desired depth?

I'm sure I'm botching terms here, but you know what I mean
Sorry for the late response..yes its multiple passes. In Lightburn you can set up settings with multiple stages. I set for 3 cross hatched engraving passes then a cleanup. Repeat that 4-5 times. The cleanup passes help clear slag out of the engraving.

Lasertips.org and lasereverything.net are both good resources, LE used to offer settings packages and lens converters though I don't know if they still do.
