Less than an hour to get it in place and the software figured out where I thought it’d work. Then an hour on the phone with support when it came out backwards and mirror image of what I was expecting…..
It was a setting and after that was sorted out everything was smooth. Text or logos are fairly simple. They sent me a cheat sheet on settings for different materials so that was a help. It sure beats engraving CNC and doesn’t tie one up on it. And no consumables like engraving tools.

It appears from looking at eBay that these things are getting cheaper by the day. Maybe the market is flooded with them. I've seen this exact unit as low as $3,000 and they used to be $6,000.

After looking at this for a few days I totally agree. In fact, I'm not sure who the heck I would buy one of these things from because they all seem to be some version of a Chinese whatever. Even if you buy the name brand it's still just a Chinese whatever.

I do believe in Captain Crunch.
I did that once with a 3d printer. Was great for 9 months, and then a part went bad. I spent so much time troubleshooting and testing what it was to get down to the root cause. I will not do it ever again.

Which, honestly happens with name brands too. I have 3d printers. After many years I have figured out they are all made from the same parts.
60W Cloudray fiber laser here. Bought it back in December 22. Works great. I use the rotary for doing insulated mugs with my logo. Mainly used for burning our logo onto products and occasional kid projects. Most stuff is burnt at 20-50% power. Aluminum with Cerakote finish or bare aluminum.
If you are burning shiny materials with a MOPA, like bare aluminum, look at the Laser Marking Spray. Magical stuff. Video on youtube with the lasereverything channel.
Highly recommend using Lightburn. So much better than ezcad.

just do your research and find a company with good customer service. I spent months looking at units before I got mine. I did import it and had to pay the duty’s on it was pretty painless with Mactron. Wasn’t the cheapest option for sure. Biggest thing is what laser source there using.
That will work, but for marking barrels, 20W is enough. You just let it go over it for a few minutes. That is what I have.

Yes... but.. Sometimes they stock 30w mopa lasers that are a little cost friendly than the 60 watt mopa... I'd prefer mopa because of the better laser source.
