How to Lower Powder and Primer Prices?

We can do nothing to control the prices of powder and primers. That’s entirely up to the manufacturer. I’m a little tired of all the complaining to tell the truth. Prices go up, always have and always will.

Just because primers and powder were cheaper ten years ago, I would bet some of you were complaining about powder being up to $30 a pound or primers being all the way up to $25/1000 or whatever back then. I get it. I don’t like paying today’s prices either but they are what they are.

Have you seen the prices of new pickups? How many of you are waiting for the price to come down? The bigger question is how many of us went ahead and purchased that truck for the same price you could once buy a house for.

You want to try to lower powder and primer prices? Start a manufacturing facility to make your own and see what you have to charge to make a profit.

Dave.

AI will find ammunition, gunpowder/primers are a detriment to human life. Will make a societal decision for you to end production. This will be part of a global initiative programming instruction, before AI decides WHO is a detriment. A a robot comes looking for individuals who are living off the grid. 2030 ish if the new chip structure is as big a technology( to ASI -artificial super intelligence) boost as forecasted.

The beginning of a different AI as we know it:

Hodgdon powder co owns many brands, Hodgdon, IMR, Winchester, Ramshot, Accurate, Blackhorn, Pyrodex, Triple Seven, and White Hots. Could a case be made that this is a monopoly? If so is there anyone in the federal government that would do anything about it? It sure seems to me like the Hodgdon company has too much influence, and under their rule prices have almost tripled. Maybe its time for some government oversite. I never in my life thought any thing like that would come out of my mouth, but i have 8 lb jugs of powder that are not too old that i bought for less than $200. You used to get a cheaper price for buying the quantity of 8 lbs, last time I looked the powder I was looking at you could buy 8 1lb cans for less than 1 8lb jug. I got persuaded to try VV165 in my 6.5-284, best powder Ive ever used, I should have switched all of my powders to VV back then. I pains me that we are being screwed by an American company, yet VV has tried to keep prices down. I imagine with the war in Ukraine and most of the European countries building up their militaries they are probably under more pressure to produce than anyone in the US.
