Gotta Love Powder Valley

What part of MAP pricing is unclear to you. Nobody will carry vortex products if you sell them at that cost. That in turn will hurt vortex because not as many dealers will buy them. Majority of people won't buy a scope unless they look through it. So all the little shops won't carry them cause they can't buy them for what your selling them for. Just my opinion on it.

Ryan - what you have just done is increase my sales of Vortex products by announcing on a public forum that bullets.com is selling them below MAP and, in some cases, below dealer cost. Thank you so much!

I realize what I have done. But what you have also done is made a bunch of your customers who are gunsmiths/retailers mad at you which will make them buy your products you sell elsewhere. I for one will spend 5 dollars a box of bullets more somewhere else.

Why couldn't you guys have debated this yesterday? I just bought a Sightron SIII but was considering a Viper PST @ MAP. Actually, I went with the SIII at a brick & mortar store locally because they offered the incredible service of a fair trade in value for used optics. In this case, even great online prices wouldn't have made a difference.

I guess what I'm saying is that I see value in both business models. Then again, maybe I'm the weird one...I like PV & Bullets.com. I also think getting "gouged" on firearms related items isn't possible unless you choose to let it happen.

Holy crap!!! Bullets.com has Vortex scopes for dealer cost? And cheap bullets? And cheap brass? And cheap gun cases? And cheap barrels? And cheap reamers? And cheap micrometers? And cheap calipers? And cheap gun smith lathes? And cheap......?

And they have cheap shipping? And when I order from them the stuff is at my door in one day, maybe two?

I say let's crucify them for their powder prices, though. :o

We all have our favorite places and it takes a bit to change my buyinghabits. I get my barrels from bugholes, powder from grafs, PV or Mid South. I have bought from bullets but, not much thats just because I am a creature of habit their service and price on bullets was fair. I am sure once they get on the dealers list for Hodgdon they will be better with their prices. They are a sponsor here, accusing them of gouging is a bit dramatic and harsh.

So the whole MAP pricing agreement that you had to sign to become a dealer means nothing to you. I guess when I sign something or say I will do something I follow through with it. Im done with this post.

Free enterprize is just that. Any intervention distorts the issue. The marketplace rules. If A
doesn't like B's business practices A goes elsewhere. Meanwhile the competition gives me
all sorts of choices.

thinking a bit different...
you all... me too sometimes.. will go out spend $$$$ on firearms an reloading equipment an smitty work.. but to save 5bux you rather support big companies on powder an bullets instead of your local mom an pop stores
Hmm... are we are killing ourselves ?

I save WAY more than "5bux" on powder by ordering from Powder Valley compared to the local shops.

Mom n Pop Varget
$200 x 4 = 800 + $64 in tax = $864

Powder Valley Varget
$160 x 4 = 640 + $28.50 Haz + $19.95 Shipping = $688.45

$175 difference. NOT $5. That's equal to another FREE 8lbs of Varget.

If they ever had enough of rifle and pistol powder in stock at one time, I would order a Full 48 lbs of powder to maximize the Hazmat charge.

i could argue that.. but i'm not... the thing is what i ment is over time who caused that..?
your local store seems to charge more then mine, don't forget they order like Bullet dot cum does as well.. i'm not immune to the statement i just recieved an small order from PV myself... i will say other companies should learn from PV very fast an efficent.. i'll buy locally when i can though... even at a few $ more.

Don't have a mom and pop store with precision reloading supplies around here.

The MAP Issue is an issue between an offended dealer and Vortex.

That is why they get ALL my business unlike a seller on here who charges at least a third more for everything on his site. His shipping charges are super high too, but PVI stays the same and fantastic people to work with besides.

Might that seller be Bruno's, who hides their shipping charges, which are almost DOUBLE what they should be? i made the mistake of purchasing boolitz from them recently, and won't do that again...

My mom and pop store is Recobs Target Shop, less than 10% over powder valley, no shipping, no hazmat

Have you seen his dealer agreement (does it even exist)? Why are you commenting on the contents of some two-party agreement, which may or may not exist, the contents of which (assuming it exists) are unknown to you, when you aren't even one of the two parties?

Yes I have seen it. They email it to all dealers and make you sign it before your dealer account is created. Night force has the same thing. Why do you think majority of nightforce dealers have the same price on scopes. All vortex dealers except one have the same prices as well. That way everyone is on the same playing field.. I am merely stating what every retailer out there feels about what bullets.com is doing.

I thought MAP prices are only suggestions. I think enforcing Enforcing MAP is illegal according to federal law.
