Fclass Rifle Actions

John,
I look forward to building a rifle on one of your titanium actions real soon.

To all the Barnard bashers out there, everything looks good when it wins and Barnards do win! ;D

"Barnyards" are the most common action used in F-Class in Australia. This is mainly because of good availability and low price. As far as looks go, I try to spend time at the range looking at things like wind flags and targets, and rarely have to look at the Barnard because it just gets on with the job :).

but i have to look at the rifle at home ;)

Savage shooter,

They both are very smooth, and it depends on which model of each you are comparing. My first Panda bench rest rifle was great and I could work the bolt with my index finger and not cause problems with my bags while shooting fast.
Then cam the Bat 6.5 dual port, still could go fast and smooth with one finger and shoot even faster with dual port....I could consistently shoot both big groups and small groups in ten seconds..that's five shots...I love to shoot fast and I really like both actions...but of course now I am a bit partial to my own.

Still have Pandas and Bats...great actions and nice people..".

Nomad,

Nice rifle, looks like you plan to do some speed shooting with that left port set up....Good Luck mate!

No speed shooting, John. Just groundhogs out as far as I can find them and an informal long range steel comp in SE Ohio. I just like the convenience of a RBLP while shooting from a bench. Here's my bench setup.

Agreed. My Barnyards are like my women. Not real pretty to look at but work great and very reliable.
I would love a Titanium Pierce action though for either a 1000yd BR/fly gun or for an F/TR gun where weight is more of an issue.

Another action to consider is the Borden BRM. Smooth as silk. Great folks to do business with.

I shot Barnards for 12 years and was very happy with them. As others have said, reliable smooth and the trigger is pretty darn good.

This spring I built a Stolle Big Bore panda (I am a sling shooter) and added the TG ejecctor. Guess what, both Barnards are now gone and I have another Stolle on the way.

When I had my Barnards I never felt at a disadvantage- but the Stolle has better ergonomics for shooting in a sling. Really now with the Barnard price being so high, there hardly is any difference in price if you use a Jewel trigger. I had mine machined for an Anschutz trigger, best option available if you want a two stage.
