Fclass action

There are several great actions made out there.
I have 2 Bat Bs with multi flat and integral lug and rails. One is for the 6 Dasher RBLPDP that I have changed to a drop port and the other is a 7 284 Shehane RBLPRE. Both shoot very well. Extra parts for traveling are interchangeable.
This give me options with the existing wind conditions. If I had to shoot one, it would be the dasher as it is truly wicked accurate in decent wind conditions.
I have never had a problem with either one and they have both won well at 1000 BR and F-Class.
In my opinion, the key to a winning competition gun is a competition based gunsmith. There are a few around like Alex Wheeler that have competed successfully and know how to set one up right. Mine is Geoff Wise. I know there are other great gunsmiths out there. Get one and consult with him on your equipment choices. Without one, it is academic. You will never know the reason why your gun can't group well with consistency.
I believe a great winning group is made on the reloading bench, shot from a great gun riding right on good rests and decent shooting skills.
Oh yeah, winning consistently is not an easy endeavor as it requires commitment on many levels that some of us don't always have available.

I run 2 Bat "M" actions in f-open. 284 and 7 rsaum. Both can make the weight with a full 32", 1.25" barrel. Need the lighter NF comp or March scopes to do it. Interchangeable parts makes traveling repair kit small. I know they are out of your stated $ range, but you only need to buy one. It will last more than your lifetime. There are much more expensive things to consider if you want to take f-class seriously. In the long run you may be better served by upping that end of your budget.

Very much agree with Blaster-37. Find and stay with a competent gunsmith. Alex Wheeler does all my stock work and Dana English handles the metal work for now. I heard Alex is considering getting into the metal end of the business and I wish him well. My background is from the bench and I know that my loading technique has saved me from many close 9's:) Detailed reloading makes up for my poor wind calling.

Wichita is a nice action, whether it be new or used. It is on my list for the next time I have the cash on hand to build a new gun. The gentleman who just purchased the company frequents this board. I communicated with him last year, and an action could be had for under $1000 at that time.
