Fclass action

With my current rifle up for sale, I have free'd up more funds for a custom action on my 6BR custom build. Any advice on where to start? I have looked at Bat model B's, Deffiance deviant and or Kelby Fclass panda. I'd like to stay around $1000-$1200. Thoughts?

I think all those are going to be out of your price range if you buy the action new if your budget is 1000-1200.

you will need at least 1200-1600 for those actions.

I like all those actions though.

You could also do a true'd up Remington 700 action with a PT&G bolt or a Stiller in the upper end of your budget.

You could also try to find on of the ones you want in the for sale ads.

I agree. All of those actions are above your price range. I just paid 1500 for a kelbly action.

I am impressed with the accuracy of a savage target action coupled with a quality barrel. Not the nicest action but accurate.

I have been leaning twoards the Bat, like you guys have said, I've seen them for about $1400. Finding a gently used one may be difficult. Which stiller would you reccomend? Depending on the price the my rifle may sell for I may be able to upgrade price wise to be able to afford one of the high end.

James Crofts shoots a Savage PTA.

I think the results speak for themselves.

You can get them for about $600

You can look at the Stiller Viper or D'Back

Take a look at Barnard... The bolt shroud has an unconventional look to it but they are a fine action and come with trigger.

For a F Open gun with the 22 lb weight limit i think the Barnard P is a great action and i wouldn't hesitate to use one for a build.

I have 2 Pierce Short Actions. I use them in my Dashers. They are smooth as silk, use a Remington footprint. This makes finding stocks a breeze. They are perfect for a 6BR.. Also you can get one with a rail for about $1000... Right in your price range.

Pierce actions are great. Ive ordered one of their multiflat competition actions after owning a short action. Cant wait to gt it shooting!

+1 for barnard. They come with an excellent trigger,(2 stage or single), very stout and well made. Also very easy to remove bolt and firing pin assembly, 3 lug which provides a shorter and softer bolt lift. Contact MT guns if interested.

The Pierce multi flat might be a little more than your looking to spend also. Take a close look at their round actions. They're right in your price range w/rail.

It hasnt arrived yet. Ordered in December, should be here in Aus by June. The guys have been really good to deal with both directly and through our importer.

Another Barnard vote. The only downside is that they're heavy, but with a 22 pound limit, that's a non issue. The Model P comes with a nice two stage trigger, or you can go with a Model S and use a remington trigger. It's hard to beat them for the price (or at all, if you ask me).

Also, being able to disassemble the bolt without tools is pure luxury.

I like the Barnard. Even for F-TR its easy to make weight and with F-Open its not a concern at all. Great trigger is included and that sucker is strong! The way we push our loads in F-Class, that's important.

I just wondering why you haven't considered Borden, he makes a great action !

No question Borden is top shelf... I believe he was looking to keep it to 1100-1200 bucks , this is why I mentioned a Barnard.

Look for a used Kelbly action,,,if it doesnt have a 20 moa rail you can add one to it,,,that shluld get you into your price range,,,Roger
