Favorite Varmint Rifle Pics Please!

My shooting partner shot a groundhog at 725 yds with a 40 gr 204 savage
Walked it in on 3 rounds
So the 204 can reach
The 204 223 are all u need to know for PDogs and Ghogs assuming u done want to go beyond 500 too often and not go broke on the cost of rounds recently

A long long time ago I bought this barrel with a certain caliber because it was all the rage and it was hip and trendy. Well I looked at the size of the brass and it's case capacity, and said to myself how the hell am I going to get any speed out of this itty bitty thing it holds just a little more than a 223. Anyways the next day a package came from PTG that I had forgotten about since it was backorder for so long, and said to myself this is no coincidence so I sent my new barrel and new reamer to the gunsmith and told him that I wanted him to rechamber it. He thought I was nuts I said that's beside the point, look it is already profiled crowned and threaded so just stick the reamer where the sun don't shine on this barrel and I will be a happy camper. He called me and asked what I wanted to do with the lazer etching on the barrel I said leave it there or no one will believe me. I crack up every time I think about it.
This is they end result.

PS: For those that are not familiar with this caliber a 6mm Mach IV is a 257 WBY necked down to 6mm or 243.

That 257Wby case is a real good one. And at 6mm, should be a really impressive cartridge. Shoot 70gr BT's and go way fast.

Came across this old post. Some nice stuff on here. Two favorites of mine, very different..
Early Ruger 77-22, 22Mag, receiver threaded and Lothar Walther barrel installed. Barrel is/was, a 10-22 barrel - tighter 22lr bore, chambered with my min. spec'd reamer. Trigger worked to a very nice 12oz. Old Weaver 4-16. This thing's been used on a lot of everything for about 25yrs or so and is an old friend. Not especially pretty but very nicely accurate, likes the Win. 40JHP and a couple cases of that have gone down the tube. .

The green one is a 22-250AI, R 700, McMillan Sako varmint pattern. Third 22-250AI barrel on this action, is a 14 twist 25" Walther barrel, 0 freebore no turn neck. Very effective brake. It uses the strong PMC brass, but Lapua web is too large to chamber. Luckily I've plenty of PMC. It's probably the most remarkable barrel I have. After 90rds it'll show a trace of blue on the first Montana Extreme patch, then nothing after that. These were with 4000fps/50BT fireform loads. RL15powder. It chewed ragged hole groups fireforming and shoots ragged hole groups at 4200 with formed brass. No targets loaded into the computer or I'd post them. It's been a favorite for a long time.

Cz 527 in 17 hornet glassed and pillar bedded with a timney. Vortex razor LHT. This probably my favorite overall. I love the low recoil and mild report. I mostly use it walking around shooting off the fences or sticks.

When the wind picks up or the dogs are far 6 creed 7.5 twist Bartlein on a Tikka action. 28" Heavy varmint contour and stock filled with lead shot and epoxy. It weighs about 25lbs. Recoil is non existent but the brake is loud. I double up on ears.

223 Ackley Rem 700 with Tubb brake. Jewel trigger.

That stock was sold by Brownells back in the 1990s. It was made by a company called Zero (made in Arkansas). It came partially inleted and not finished. This is long before tacticool became a thing. I finished it in cordovan shoe dye and a full can of minwax polyurethane, and then double ought steel wool and buffed it. It has aged and yellowed very nicely over the years like an old guitar. Still shoots like a house of fire. It's had several actions in it. It's probably still my favorite.

Here is another, befitting the title varmint rifle, the 24 Varmint originally the 24 GPC, renamed. Barrel is a 1-8 twist 20" McGown. The pre 64 Win on the right is a 240 Laser built to throw Berger 115 VLDs at 4,000 fps, case is on a 280 Rem, 40 degree shoulder that .100 longer than a Gibbs minimum taper, with a 1-7 Lilja 30" barrel.
