I love my 204's but there is a lot of fun to be had with just a little 17HMR. Forces me to "walk and stalk," instead of keeping my butt planted at a table all day. Lot fewer shots, but better for the old arteries!

It puts the hunt back in hunting.

Might be a little expensive but, why don't you rent a 4WD? One of my nephews did last year from CA. to ID for an elk hunt. He didn't totally mistreat it, washed real good, threw a wax job on it and all was good.

unfortunately my vehicle will also serve as my storage, home, and aresnel for weeks or more. It is a van with the extra 4 foot height which has a. full seize bed in it. It is ambulance size with an extra 30 inches or so at the rear as well. It will be packed full of gear, coolers, weapons, shooting table, tripods, etc. I am by myself to share a rental with.

I guess this would make an OK varmint gun. I just finished putting it together yesterday. Will go to the range Friday to sight in the scope. 24" barrel chambered for 6mm ARC by Compass Lake. Vltor upper, billet lower, TT Diamond trigger.

I've been reading good results with lighter bullets please post and let us know how you make out.

Both great fun rifles to shoot. 17HMR has taken some small game but 22-250AI barrel is still to get its first kill.
