Favorite Varmint Rifle Pics Please!

QPCv1. ? tell me about it.
Little curious as to what the QPVv1 is? Love my 25 creed with the 131’s but that’s significantly faster
It’s my first iteration (v1) of a 25 cal wildcat. It is basically a 257 Ackley, but with custom chamber dimensions, a slightly less tapered body, and 0.150” FB. 3.200” OAL to feed from an XM length DBM setup. My original goal was a short action, non-magnum that could push the blackjack to 3150fps in a 24-26” barrel, without trashing the brass. Still working on the short action portion of the equation...

But having a .25 that’s supersonic to a mile is pretty nifty. It makes a full IPSC jump on impact at 1000yds.

Out calling coyotes in north western Pa right now.
Windhan Varminator in 223, 6.5x20 leupold.

PM sent.

I guess if I was shooting the light-weight bullets my 260 AI would be considered a varmint rifle.

It's a Rem 700 Custom Build by (WSMNUT) w/Krieger 1 - 8 Tw. 24 inch sendero taper barrel.
8.5 X 25 X 50 Leupold VX3i LRP. Typical group with the right load combo.

I liked this caliber so much that I sent Zack my 40X for a re-barrel Bench Gun.

Just a few. Some that I no longer have in that configuration...lol too easy to swap barrels.

Left to right= 260Rem, 6br, 22-250, 223,243AI, then my 20ga slug gun also pictured.

Love the 260 with 120gr NBT’s at longer ranges! But the 6br has to be my favorite! Just so damn accurate its almost not fair...lol

A couple more newer ones:

Top is another 22-250. bottom is another 260Rem that is lighter(well, 12lbs) and doesn’t have to be shot off a bench only.

And below is one I just finished for a friend... it’s a 6.5CM on a Savage target action in a McMillan dark mcwoody stock.

Here is one for you it is a 1975 700 in 22-250 UnFired with original Redfield 6 X18 scope, they owner I got it from told me it was a custon shop. I am not sure about that although I do know they action is the smoothest I have ever cycled, and the bluing and finish on the stock are the nicest I have yet to see. to bad it has some safe rash now two pounds of guns in a one pound safe.

Both are Savage 12 FV actions, Vortex PST 6x20x50mm, stock triggers. Camo is a 260 Rem with a Douglas barrel and the black is a 6 Creedmoor with a Proof research barrel. So much fun to shoot. They make me look good!

Things get real interesting when you have to hold 15+ dogs (or squirrels) into the wind.
Like using a .17 HMR in a 20 mph cross wind way out there..... It can be done, but the 'ole hit ratio takes a hit.
I recall a 600 yard-ish shot at a groundhog in a gale. First shot hit just off his nose. second one took him cleanly. Spotter asked how far I held in the wind. I said "About a piano keyboard left...plus a groundhog" Very unlucky groundhog...

6Bra. I like the 6mmBR variants with zero freebores, 6br, 6bra, 6dasher, ext.

Alex is dead nuts right on, those 6mm really create some air time, and you can see the flying rugs with a muzzle break!

6BR zero freebore-27" 12T barrel-55's-58g at 3850 fps with AA2230, Rem 7 1/2

6 Dasher 12T-zero freebore-27" barrel-55's-58g at 4150

6 BRX-zero freebore 12T, same as Dasher

Dasher and BRX with 70g Blitz kings with H335 are simply unbelievable acrobatics.

H335 and AA2230 are very easy on barrels!

If you don't see the dogs flying, where is the fun? This equates to 19-28lb rifles, and/or muzzle breaks.

My 223 and AI are 19 lb rigs, with muzzle breaks. My 243 AI is 28lbs with a muzzle break. I see my exact impact on the dog, know how to hold for exact bullet placement on the next party animal. If they are on the edge of the hole, put some English on him and plug the hole! Skull creases = swimming dogs and more dogs join the fun! Shoot one's tail off at 200, you are really going to see a circus act with lots of dogs joining in!

If you aim for a shoulder, you want to see if you hit two inches away from the shoulder, if you aim for the eye, you want to see if you hit them on the back of the head or nose, make turret corrections. Correct shot placement = better launch time and more humane kills.

Ear plugs with electronic ear muffs allow me to hear normal conversation at low voice.

The way around muzzle breaks is the 17's and Vartarg. I do not like watching them just fall over, too many crawlers...inhumane.

When they look like they have been shot out of a circus Canon, that is a humane kill with NO sufferings!

More of a chuck rig, 6mm Rem AI, 26", 14T, zero freebore, 70g Nosler ballistic tips at 4100-4150 with Win 760 or AA2700(one of the coolest powders you can shoot).

I took a lot of people shooting dogs over the years. We sat up in a row, Close to each other. I was able to call my own shots, and almost every shot within 300 yards was a PLOP sound with dogs going airborn. My hunting partners did not have nearly the High % hits as I did. I rarely ever said a word, other than, "how you do'en?"
One thing for certain, they knew for a fact that if they could not see their bullet impact, they had no idea how much to hold over on windage and elevation. On the next trip, every rifle other than 17's had muzzle brakes, or they were so hard headed about hating brakes that they did not want to go back...".wasting too much ammo just burning up barrels".

That one is a long range benchrest from Sharp Shooter Supply... They are very nice stocks and come ready to finish.. Mine was cleared with automotive clear.

My other laminates are also from Sharpshooter Supply.
dang..they're savage only...and i don't seen the green and blue offered on their page. look phenomenal though

Couldn’t get pics to post for me.
XP100 action, Ragged Hole barrel, McMillan stock, Jewel trigger Leupold glass.
Finally got the XP100 6TCU rifle with enough fire formed brass to see what the extra room did for me. 55-58 grain bullets will do 3600fps and change. I eased up on a full case with no gain, actually a loss.
AA2200 and virgin 2018LC brass.
Thanks to epc308 for his patience and knowledge, thanks to Grocmax for the reamer. Thanks to a number of others that exchanged loads and data.
My very first full blown, hands on build. It has not shot over MOA even with fire forming loads. If I do my part it will shoot sub MOA easily.

Ha! Yeah - I've shot at squirrels in really windy weather with my HMR where I was holding off a good 3 feet. I have noticed that when you get to 400 yards - that is the challenging distance with that HMR. 300 no problem. We've popped then one after another for good strings. But 400.... That is where that little bullet is dropping so fast that if you are off by less than 10 yards in distance you will miss. No air time, that is for sure. Ha.
