Electric Cars -- anyone own one?

Fake news. Largely robotics. Fun fact: China installed over half the world's new robots in 2023. (The US was a very very distant third place, a bronze medal at least, behind them and Japan.)
Largely robotics. :) And I'd assume that the humans under the age of 13 are all paid a comfortable living wage.

I remember reading the book "The Good Old Days - They were Terrible". The 1st chapter enumerated the number of horses in New York City around 1900, the average # pounds of horse poop per animal and all the disgusting effects of this immense quantity of waste sitting in the streets. The gasoline-powered automobile was a huge environmental improvement.

And lets not talk about the years prior when chamber pots were dumped out the window. Yeah, the internal combustion engine was an improvement. It took decades before the average family could afford one and those horses did not disappear over night.

Fast forward 100+ years and many are convinced that those "magic" electrons are the next step in the evolution of transportation. Those who believe that do not understand how those magic electrons are generated or transported let along the loss associated with transportation. Basically what is happening is that the environmental impact is moved to someone else's back yard and out of theirs. Don't get me wrong, I encourage the consumption of electricity almost as much as I encourage the consumption of natural gas. However I believe that the additional infrastructure needed to accommodate large numbers of ev's should be constructed within 20 miles of the consumption point. Currently places like California rely on electric production facilities in other states like Washington. If they want the additional electricity needed to support their wet dream in places like LA, Chicago and New York then they should produce the additional electricity needed within their own city. Only in that way will people understand how those magic electrons are generated. I currently have a dam just 2 miles as the crow flies from my house. I don't want another 10 dams to support the needs of the poser environmentalist crowd. Not that it will be necessary, they all seem to be trading their ev's for Lincoln Navigators to Chevy Suburban's (as Senator Kelly just did). Like we didn't know that they were just virtue signaling all along. Makes me want to buy a Tesla.

Just got back from North 40 chasing some generator propane parts and gas tape. Drove my gas guzzling F150 even though it has the eco boost motor cause i'm recently into that echo bovine scatology now that the echo posers/terrorists have shown their true colors. And what do I spy in the parking lot? A Tesla. A Tesla with mud all the way up the sides. Now that SOB knows what a ranch vehicle is for. Very inspirational. :)

Y'all should compare the Tesla trucks to my ram1500 ....
Me and my bro in law carried the local Indian gas station owners for a late nite mud riding trip lol funniest crap you've ever seen.,.......,
They was screaming like girls riding up and down the power lines at our hunting club

Probably scare the crap out of most anyone except some rednecks that do it every day

Tesla truck can't get no where compared to our trucks

Washed out roads and mudholes with mud sticky as glue down here lol

Not to mention black belt soil .no one driving on that
Different ball game down here

We have 1/2 of our state you can't drive on dirt.it's called the black belt.you will sink
Only atv's and sxs's can go.lower half of Alabama

I’m pretty sure the Douche Panzers are not bullet proof. 1.8mm stainless? Bullet proof?
Absolutely not bulletproof. Plenty of videos of people who were convinced their new $100k cyberstuck was bulletproof shooting holes in them. Heck, half of them aren't even waterproof.

Musk was one of the gods of the left prior to his purchase of Twitter.
Nah, most people on both sides have always seen him for what he is. A ketamine fueled nepo-baby claiming he's something that he isn't.

But yeah, if my 13 year old truck ever wears out, I'll probably buy an EV truck. Or maybe convert my 52 year old truck to an EV.

One thing he is that no one else in the world is, the richest man in the world. With that accomplishment he doesn't need to claim anything. He's already proven it. Now he's being denigrated for saving the US (and western civilization it would have/will turn out) from financial collapse. I just hope his efforts are not too little too late.

I'll stay with my gas guzzlers, where I live it's 25 miles to the nearest town where you can buy anything. The temps swing from a possible -50°f to +110f. Throw in a blizzard now and then for good measure. The concept is great but the technology hasn't got to the point where it is a viable alternative for every day people.

I do not own one, and have absolutely no plans to do so.

They make zero sense to me. How many thousands of tons of raw materials are processed to make batteries for 1 vehicle. Environmentally friendly? mmmmm OK, right.

Like the above poster, I live in a relatively rural area with annual temps from minus 10 or 20 to 115 ish on rare occasions in the summer.

Adequate charging station network, now that's funny in rural eastern WA state.

With Trump's tariffs in-bound we are all going to be driving our same vehicles for many years yet and so the debate about purchasing an electric vehicle, any new vehicle for that matter, is moot.

Id carry you for a ride and make you feel like a real man in my truck.
My truck will suck up your car or truck and spit out a beer can LMAO
You'd be buying a truck after one weekend with me.
Your wife would hate me converting you over
You'd be buying bows ,guns everything that goes along
Just yanking your chain but seriously

I admire your thought about producing electricity where it is used, however energy of all kinds are produced where it is found. Petroleum products are often/usually transferred in underground pipes and electricity is transmitted using high voltage power lines. Petroleum products are usually refined at some distant location from most people and then transferred to where people are located. Whether EV's are the next generation of transportation I don't know, but a new source must be obtained for the future. Petroleum products are a product that took millions of years to produce. When it's gone, it's gone and it's being used at a staggering rate. The use of renewable energy is a solution to get us to future stages of power.

There is very little loss in the transportation or refinement of petroleum products beyond the delivery to the end user. The transportation of those magic electrons can result in significant loss that varies depending on whether using overhead or underground transmission lines. And that transmission often originates with fossil fuels such as natural gas power plants and coal power plants. Much better to generate it where it is used. Especially considering that the environmental posers want to breech the dams.

Hey we got smoking hot women launching 20'bass boats and loading big bucks in trucks by their self down here.

God bless America.lol

Just saying and I ain't lying one bit

On the side of the state I live on you are inclined to find like minded individuals. On the west side of the state they are vandalizing Tesla's and assaulting their owners in the name of the 1st amendment all the while supporting elimination of the 2nd amendment. They don't call it the peoples republic of Washington for nothing. This state has turned into a dictatorship.
