Electric Cars -- anyone own one?

We best not bring up this political crap or this electric car thread will be gone. I have learned a lot from it.
Yea, I agree this crap needs to end.

It often leads to nonsense and extremist disregard reality.
PS: Thanks for the suggestion on who the mystery person is, but apparently others thought it was someone else. I've never heard who, if any one individual was in charge or funding. Most were locals where something happened.

A Hungarian citizen is paying for it all. They don't want him in Hungary. Most of us don't want him or his offspring here either. Hopefully their resident status will be revoked.

the richest man in the world. With that accomplishment
I don't think you understand the term 'nepo-baby'. GrandDaddy owned an emerald mine. Not much of an 'accomplishment' to get richer if you start out with more than 99.9% of the global population.

I don't know man. My grandpa went to Europe and put more notches in his rifle stock whenever he met any of der fuhrer's boys, and I'm proud as hell for what he did for the world. Supporting Elmo is straight up Un-American to me.

Id carry you for a ride and make you feel like a real man in my truck.
My truck will suck up your car or truck and spit out a beer can LMAO
You'd be buying a truck after one weekend with me.
Your wife would hate me converting you over
You'd be buying bows ,guns everything that goes along
Just yanking your chain but seriously
lolwut? Not sure you understood what I wrote...

I haven't driven an EV, but I've been told the torque will snap your neck. Makes sense to me.

The death of ICE vehicles for everyday use is inevitable. I love the sound of a lumpy cam through an unrestricted exhaust like any red blooded American, but at the end of the day a vehicle is to get from point a to point b. I couldn't care less about what makes the wheels spin on my daily driver. My toys are a different story.

We all start from some point. Perhaps you have achieved great wealth starting from nothing. I doubt it though.

My grandfather fought through Sicily into Italy and into Germany. You obviously have no idea what a NAZI is. Allow me to educate you. It stands for National Socialist Workers Party. Now ask yourself, who are the socialists? Bernie Sanders, AOC and pretty much everyone you seem to be listening to. The cancel culture. The narcissistic habitual victims. Those who value their identity above all else. The people who would repeal the 2nd amendment so they can regulate the 1st amendment. They are the NAZI's of the modern age.

Yeah we are cut from different cloth .I can't say I don't care about driving an electric car or would drive one to work.

It's right vs wrong for me

I mean I can't buy one around here but we eventually have to deal with yall shoving this agenda in our face.thats the problem

It's bad enough the left clown show on TV shoving this garbage in our face and especially our kids faces.

Electric vehicles, just like guns, are not political.

People, use both by choice for political purposes.

This has been a very informative and active thread for more than 3 years, longer than some of the latest contributors have been on the forum. Keep it civil, keep it on topic.

Getting back on track, yes, the instant torque in a EV is noticeable.

Even in a non performance model such as my Chevy Bolt EUV, the instant acceleration can get your attention. It has a 180 HP motor, and it is all there the instant you push the pedal.

Of every person posting in this thread, I am one of the few, (very few), that has a legitimate reason, or a better word might be excuse), for owning a EV over an ICE for a particular purpose.

Yes you do Jackie. I bought an 09 Prius from an older Lady that was moving back to Korea. It had aa couple bad cells in the big battery and the dash screen was bad. It is very clean. We bought the individual cells and dash screen off of Ebay. We also had to replace the A/C condenser. I'm into it for $1100. I drive 60 miles daily for work. My Duramax has 326,000 miles on it and my Corolla has 336,000. Time to drive the Prius.

Now that I've learned a bit since the beginning of this thread.... I believe a Bolt would have suited me fine for a second or third vehicle just to have around.

Yeah, I've run the ev cart cars. They scoot. All that power in a high performance ev could bankrupt a person in tire changes alone. Still, no comparison to performance motorcycle. I've owned a couple of 1000 cc bikes in the past. One of them of note was a Yamaha FZ1. 1000 CC in a ~500 pound bike. I went through three tires a summer on that thing. Couldn't stay out of the throttle. You find yourself scooting back up to the handle bars as the front end reaches for the sky and it pastes a smile on your face that does not come off for hours. Glad it was not a Hayabusa. I would have gone through 5 sets a tires a year. One year I put a total of 45,000 miles on 3 different motorcycles. That was an expensive year. Although one of them was a CBR 600 RR sport bike. Rode that thing back and forth from the Idaho border to Seattle for a few years. That thing was very high performance (had it up to 160 mph one day) but a lot easier on the tires than the 1000cc bikes I've owned and much easier than a 1300 CC bike like the Hayabusa. Getting that level of horsepower to weight in a four wheeled vehicle these days will cost you in excess of 250 grand. If performance/power to weight ratio is a priority, go with two wheels over four. Same goes for environmental impact. Much less with a two wheeled vehicle.

These posts aren't supposed to be about politics, but no one with any sense would relate Bernie Sanders or AOC with the NAZI's.
Since you said earlier in these posts that the "Jan 6 attack on the Capitol didn't do any damage, there was no destruction of property, no attacking of police stations, no fire bombing and the only person killed was a tourist", I believe you must be getting really bad information somewhere. How many police were injured and do you not consider breaking windows and breaking through locked doors or taking property, damaging? There was a lot of damage. You refer to a lady who was killed as a tourist? This tourist that was killed had broken through several barriers in the Capital Building, while the U.S. House was in session, and also attempted to crawl through another opening in a separate locked and baracaded door. She was breaching a secured Federal Building that was closed and guarded while official business was taking place. She was not a tourist. We obviously view these things much differently.

A socialist is a socialist. Even when they try to paint themselves as something else their eye is on the money in your pocket and the policing of your speech. The problem with socialism is that no one is willing to do what is in the collectives interest. People will always do what is in their best interest. Socialist's like the Burn and AOC demonstrate the principle clearly.

BS. You should watch something other than MSDNC.

The on topic postings on Muleman's thread have been interesting. I have enjoyed them from the beginning and I am a dyed in the wool ICE and smoke stack industry guy.

Will miss the thread when the boss pulls the plug for the thread straying into the weeds of politics. It is his forum and he sets the rules and he generally enforces them.

So, now they are Socialists. You referred to Sanders and AOC as Nazi's. What do you see they have in common with Right wing Nazi's in America and what you see they have in common.

Are they Socialist? Possibly more so than many in America.

How can you continue to honestly believe the Jan 6 Capital takeover did no damage or refer to the Lady that was shot as a tourist?
I also don't watch MSDNC, do you? The news I get comes from actual reporters, and not commentators.

I think I’m not the only one that would appreciate it if you two got a private room and left the rest of us that have learned things from this thread out of your spat.

Here is the rub, the word Tesla has become a political rally point for leftist environmental posers. It was a political rally point before Elon bought X and campaigned for Trump but now they are even more incensed and 180 degrees from where they were just a short time ago.

There is no such thing as a right wing NAZI. NAZI's are socialists as stated above and a socialist is a socialist. Now to further the story, many believe Fascism to be right wing. That too is incorrect. You see, it was Hitler's buddy Mussolini who invented Fascism. Fascism is in essence (regardless of what the left wing will tell you) a socialist system that does not pretend that the individual will to what is in the best interest of the collective. They point the gun to their citizens head right from the start and force them to do what they demand.

I think someone forgot about the bussed in paid protesters of the Left.
