Does Anyone use Airguns on this Forum?

Shot a FWB 65 pistol in competition, back in the 70s. I was a Beeman dealer for a short time, till he found out i was discounting guns 10%

The gun was more accurate then i. Sold it as used to a customer.
The 10 meter air pistol is an Olympic shooting event governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). it is shot with 4.5 mm (or .177) caliber air guns at a distance of 10 metres (11 yards), and that the match consists of a qualification round of 60 competition shots within 75 minutes
Corrently shooting the cheaper one, and the grandkids air rifle. Both .177"

Everyone should own a Beeman P17 pistol. I can go out to my backyard and shoot anytime I want and this cheap pistol is just incredibly accurate. Fantastic trigger too! Hard to believe it is so inexpensive and shoots so good.

a few years ago I cleaned out the front and back yard of squirrels. Then I lent my HW 35 to my neighbor and he did the same thing. It has a scope on it. I live in DFW and getting to a range is a huge PIA. When you do get there, a 21 year old is shooting his AR as fast as he can pull the trigger about 5 feet to your right. I don't shoot too much, but I have plans to change that as soon as I can.

Check out HCRPC in DFW.

I always had a few springers and then a 20 cal gas ram RX2. Just last year picked up a BSA R10SE 22 cal on sale and I have to say, it’s pretty impressive. Same hole accuracy at 25-30 yards, can hit a golf ball at 60 yards. Still have an HW 97 in 177, HW 30 177 for my son and the RX2 20 cal that is currently with a nephew for backyard pests.

I shoot airguns regularly in fact I was just at the club indoor range an hour ago.

Ive been shooting field target for a couple years now and this winter I’ve been dabbling in benchrest. Once upon a time I had a small farm where I did groundhog control mostly with airguns.

I’ve had a few springers and a few pcps. Always rifles. Today I was shooting my .177 Thomas BR indoors at 20y. It’s under 20 ft-lb and very well may also become my main FT rig.

I also shoot rimfire and centerfire. I will participate in any of those topics on any of the various forums but I only begin topics in the most relevant forum. I frequent airgunnation, rimfirecentral, and here.

No. Why would they.
The noise, of course. Some people are more sensitive to noise, and some contexts require attenuation. I am sure you know this, so I am not trying to tell you the obvious.

And, of course, it depends on power output. I have not shot a springer for over 30 years, so I cannot rate the noise of that beautiful and heavy gun, as I recall. But okay, springers are not PCPs.

Some PCPs have serious power, and I am sure you know this, especially as you get into the .30 and up. They sound like powder burners.

If you care, and if you have not, watch Matt Dubber: He flinches just about every time he shoots his Impact, etc. He does the same with his suppressed .260 Remington and .22-.250.

I typically use a DonnyFL FX suppressor for a mildly hot .25 out of a 380mm barrel, using the 25.39 JSBs at 900 FPS. I am also older, and it helps.

..

.. squirrel ...think one got in the bathroom wall and got trapped and died. ...my wife said the noises the critter made were way louder than mouse scratching.
Classic description on a rat. Far more likely than a squirrel I'd guess. I have unwanted experience in a previous house.

Perhaps. The thing is, I never saw a rat in since I have lived here, which is over 15 years. I have seen lots and lots of mice, squirrels, and chipmunks, on the other hand. If you have sneaky rat stories, I would rather not hear them. Let me live in semi-peaceful ignorance!

Springers that we shoot are pretty quiet especially when detuned for accuracy. Have a radio on at normal volume would cover it. Yes pcp gun can be pretty cracky. I just picked up, Diana 75 off this forum from a gentleman in Alabama. Its really soft sounding when fired. Shooting flat face pellets at 20 meter I can watch the pellets go in the hole of the previous pellets. Just as in PB guns all barrels are different. I have a buddy with a 75 that loves domes but hates the wadcutter style pellets.

Nice looking gun, by the way. The stock reminds me of the FX Crown laminate blue, which is discontinued, I believe.
And, I have shot with two sandbags, and more recently, with a front sandbag and a ST monopod. But your rest looks really stable and professional. Pardon my lingo, if it is incorrect, would you call that rest a sled? I like it. S7

I shoot in my basement during the winter too. This is one reason I need at least one good scope that parallaxes down to a true ten yards.

The rest I am using is a SEB Mini.

I appreciate the data.
For the first time, about several weeks ago, I became re-interested in Springers. When I first began my airgun learning in 2021, I felt they were a viable option. I ended up going the PCP route entirely, though. If one was quiet--or could be made more quiet, as you state--things would be more attractive to me. Thanks. S7

I have a disco in .22 ,and a crossman 2240 CO2. I use them for pests, but for those out west who will travel to Humboldt County, Redwood Gun Club has a group shooting out to 100yds. They welcome others,to have fun w lead ammo, fwiw Kali has an exemption for air guns, but you better carry a print out to show the fish cops.

I’d love to see a dedicated forum. I used to shoot an Air Arms 200 SR, the recoilless version and now a heavy modded Annschutz FT by Zazadny and a Steyr LP10 pistol.
