If it's having that many missed shot issues trying to record velocities at 3,850 and up that makes it pretty much a waste of money if you want an all-around machine.
...for being able to use it down range at the target and gather velocity...
You would think then that the unit would pick up the crack of the passing bullet??? I know we all should push the manufacture to add this to it's function. It would come in handy to me to be able to set it up at 1,200yds and gather my true down range dope as it's approaching subsonic..Folks keep mentioning that desire yet the manufacturer states this design needs a muzzle report to initiate its programming? Unless there's a means by which that can be replaced (there's an extra-cost accessory for this for air rifle and bow&arrow, for instance) setting it up close to targets isn't going to work.
I'm on the list for one of these. While it would be nice to measure velocitys down range with it, I don't think I'd want my 600.00 chrono getting run into by a 168gr 7mm bullet. Mabie they will come up with a remote for this that uses radio freqs. Other wise I'll have to setup the oehler sky screens down there and try to shoot through them. hozYou could try doppler mode but you are asking the unit to do something outside its scope of design. Personally being able to track a round out to 100 yards seems to go pretty far to confirm your bullets drag coefficient.
Select the source of the event triggering the measurement.
The user can select from the following:
•
Trigger : Use the internal microphones built in the product’s
enclosure or an external Trigger device.
•
Doppler : Use the Signal returned from the projectile to
Trigger the unit: (Use of this mode should be considered
with large projectiles travelling at really slow speed only).
Do not use this mode for Firearms, it will affect the precision
of the measurements.
