Does Anyone use Airguns on this Forum?

Greetings.
I am putting this post here because I do not think there is a dedicated category for my topic--airguns.

When I joined, I was welcomed by various folks, and one told me there were airgun users on this Forum.

Your turn!

Thanks.

I like spring guns and run a once a month match in Pa., 20 meters indoors at silhouettes, bench rest. We had a match to day. Go to the Competition page , I have the results and some information listed. Locally we also have a once a week winter league 10 meter off the shoulder mench rest.

I was really into PCPs but the last two years I've been shooting more PBs. I've owned at least two dozen air guns in the past 13 years. Right now Im only down to about 6. Daystate Red Wolf, Kalibrgun cricket ll, Dream Tac, wildcat, and Uragan I can think of right now. One might show up I completely forgot about.
IMO the world of high end airguns have gotten to commercialized. If you want to compete and are not sponsored, you don't have a chance to do well.
I've been enjoying competing with PBs these past two years. To me, everyone is friendlier.

I like any and all precision tools. I had to add a TX200 and FX Wildcat to the collection. I had a laser tuned R1, but regrettably, sold it some years ago. Airgun silhouette was reintroduced to the silhouette matches local to me.

weirauch 35? 17 cal. springer and FWB xyz. I don't know the model. will kill anything in the back yard. The FWB will put a dent in a steel AC cage from the 60s. I have a scope on the weirauch. don't leave it cocked for long periods of time.

It is nice to hear from you.

When I first started with airguns several years ago, I looked into the Weirauchs because of their reputation. At that time, I thought they were too expensive for me. Little did I know I would get into PCPs a bit.
I assume with a .17 your shot placement is spot on?

My brother has an older .17 Beeman, and he tells me it is deadly on squirrels, and deadly accurate.

Thanks for chiming in. I am not sure if your forum name--Infrequent Shooter--is to be taken literally, but I do not shoot for weeks and longer sometimes, and then I hit things for a while. I do pesting in between, though, as I did yesterday and today.

a few years ago I cleaned out the front and back yard of squirrels. Then I lent my HW 35 to my neighbor and he did the same thing. It has a scope on it. I live in DFW and getting to a range is a huge PIA. When you do get there, a 21 year old is shooting his AR as fast as he can pull the trigger about 5 feet to your right. I don't shoot too much, but I have plans to change that as soon as I can.

One of my New Years resolutions for 2023 was to do more shooting. In support of that I dug around to find out what kinds of shooting were available to me within an hours drive or so from Dayton.

One of the things I found was air rifle benchrest. At Fairfield, near Cincinnatti, they shoot 100 yard matches. I got a RAW HM1000X, .22 cal.

I found out air rifle at 100 yards is pretty silly, you might have 6" to 12" or more of windage and they basically alternate shots between sighter and score shots. Fortunately they are going to start shooting 50 yard (N50) matches this year.

Im shooting a modified Benjamin Discovery that was built by @MikeT49 here on this forum. I have a blast because it allows me to shoot in my yard.

I’m currently looking at Daystate Huntsman Revere as my next addition.

I copy. You made me laugh with the comment about the kid with the AR15. That would bum me too. I hope you get the right spots to enjoy shooting the Airgun. S7

You're going to love the Revere. I once owned a .177 Huntsman XL, and it was the best shooting PCP I ever had. Having a side lever would make the Huntsman a sweeter rifle. I gifted it to my sister as a wedding present.

Okay. What was done to the discovery? I have two Marauders, one with a LW barrel, which was sold on another forum yesterday (only sold this because I bought an FX airgun and need to pay for it). The .22 with the Crosman barrel was my first airgun, bought in spring of 2021.

I definitely enjoy being able to shoot in my backyard.

Several years ago, I looked out my second-floor bedroom window, and a squirrel was sitting on my sunroom deck roof about twelve feet from me and just staring at me. (Now I do think one got in the bathroom wall and got trapped and died. The smell lasted way longer than it does when an mouse dies in the walls or attic, and my wife said the noises the critter made were way louder than mouse scratching.)

I thought: I need to get my .22 LR quickly. But it is illegal to do so unless your property line is 300 feet from any neighbor’s dwelling, and mine falls short of that.

When I bumped into airguns on YouTube one night, I couldn’t believe what was going on in the airgun world. My last handling of such things was a BB gun many years ago.

Thanks for listening.

I almost forgot to mention. Besides the Marauders (Benjamin) and FX, the other two companies I would be interested in are Daystate and possible Edgun.
Daystate makes some great airguns!
