Best 223 bullet for 1:8 twist

Hornady has changed their min recommended twist rate for the 75gr ELD-M from 1:8 to 1:7. Last lot I purchased were all marked 1:7 on the box.

AB Quantum SG calculator comes out with marginally stable in 1:8 at 2700fps.

Not saying they won't shoot but.......
Are you accounting for the length of the plastic tip?

JBM ballistics puts the 75eld m in a 1:8 at 2800 fps, sea level and 60* at 1.554 - so fully stable

AB doesn't ask for length. Just enter the actual bullet. Hornady has 1:7 min twist printed on the 75 ELD-M boxes.

It has to be by far the best book on rifle accuracy i have ever read. It explains everything
There is a cool section on savage arms floating bolt
How different rifle perform and why
Load details
Important math equations for accuracy nuts.
This book opened a world of knowledge for me..
Maybe it will be helpful for others also
Its worth
2800$.with the headaches and money it will save you
.but sells for 28$
Dot go buy a sleeve of chew
Dot go out for a 12pack and smokes
Skip the restaurant at break time and pack a lunch.
What im say-n is find 28$ and buy this book and read it over and over untill you comprehend its information.

I shoot the 75g ELDMs from a R700 223 Wylde with a 28" Bartlein HV 8 twist at 3000fps and it shoots really good out to 800. They are cheap and offer the best LR ballistics from a 223, besides the 88-95g bullets from a 7 twist. Hornady magically changed the twist rate on the box, after working for years and years, and thousands of 8 twist barrels later. Shot this group at 600y last week. CTC probably went closer to 2"

The only other bullet I would consider is the Berger 80.5s but they are considerably more expensive than ELDMs. I also use it for coyotes and believe the ELDMs do a better job of opening up at longer distances.

My savage model 12 has its factory 1:9 and shoots the 75gr ELD fine out to 500 yds. I wasn't sure if it would or not, but it does.
