Assault Weapon Ban?

Would someone please explain to me if the Assault Weapon Ban Bill passed by the 2022 U.S. Congress is still viable, or does it reset because of the new 2023 Congress? My concern is that the U.S. Senate is now controlled by the Dems with a majority of 51 and that this could be passed. I just don't know.

My standard answer to all things “Assault Ban”

There are well over 10 million AR 15 semi-automatic rifles owned ,and used ,by the citizens of the United States .Because of the riots ,and the calls to defund the police ,no one can truly know what the actual number is.The low recoil and caliber interchangeablity is one of the most popular features of the AR platform ,as it reconfigures the weapon for different applications such as ,big game hunting , small game hunting,self defense and target shooting .It is the number one rifle that is in common use today.The"common use" factor is what gives the AR15 Second Amendment protection. (Scalia ,DC vs Heller).The semi automatic rifle was invented in 1885 .Semi automatics have been in “common use “for 85 years.The Anti-second ammendment forces call the AR15 an “assault weapon”,a name given it by a corrupt media.The AR15 is just another semi-automatic rifle, and will be adjudicated as such ,should a case reach the US Supreme Court.

The Illinois gov. just signed an assault ban. Goes into affect immediately.
He's giving the honest citizens till Jan. 2024 to "register" them with the state.
Not going to get too concerned yet, their will be plenty of petitions filed against it.

The Supreme courts Ruling on the Second Amendment Dc Vs Heller. Justice Scalia wrote that firearms that are in “common use” have second amendment protection.

bills must be passed by both houses within the same congress.
The house bill was passed in the 117th congress.
The new congress is 118
Everything resets.
The house republican leadership may not even let a new awb on the floor much less pass one.

Despite the 2A's flat constraint saying nothing about relative popularity of the arms in question. That the defilers have gotten away with assaults on these constraints for countless decades doesn't make it valid, let alone authorized.

They still don't fully get it. Even some of the most "originalist" types we hire.
