Annealing Help Please

I recently picked up a 218 Bee. I am planning on making up some loads for it soon and i am interested in learning about annealing. Especailly since 218 Bee brass is so hard to come by. What do you recommend if i only plan on annealing 200-300 pieces of brass per year on the cartridge. I hate to spend hundreds of dollars for a high end set up just to do this few of cases. Whats my best options for such small batches?

Be very careful annealing those little things. Doesn't take much to ruin them.

Send them to me and put a $7.00 check for return postage in and I'll do them for you for free. if you decide to try yourself, just don't over do them and make sure they are consistent.

Just my .02¢ worth of input.

Classy

Fred, Don't know if you know about this, but Hornady has claimed that they will be offering .218 Bee brass in the coming year which is good since Winchester does not seem interested in carrying it any more. Any way take heed of what DJ says about .218 brass. It is thin necked (.0085 on average for Winchester) and easily ruined. I would take him up on his offer. dedogs

I used the cordless drill/deep socket with two torches for years. I run a line of 750 degree Tempilaq inside the case neck to get my timing correct. For 223 cases, about 2.5 seconds. It was the low cost route but very effective. Just drop them on a cookie sheet to cool. I had around $25 to build it when I did. I think the torches run a little more now. I had the 4" PVC lying around.

Having some temperature indicator is really important at first, to obtain the correct temperature.
