I’ve done a lot of testing with H481sc in the 7FCP. 56 grains should give you nicely formed cases.I'm preparing to fire form my brass in a no turn barrel. I'm using the false shoulder method and once done they'll be turned and sized for a turned neck barrel. I have 180 Eldm's and H4831sc for the forming task. Can anyone share a beginning load for sharp shoulders?
Thanks
I'm going right to N555 and Bergers for load dev and just using the other for forming. However, it appears many combinations will yield good groups and low sd's. Honestly I feel that group could have been much better than half moa. I could've done a better job of driving the rifle and setting up my bag etc. I loaded all my false shoulders kissing the chamber shoulder. I think that snug contact kept the velocity consistent and was reflected with a 3fps deviation. You know that feeling when the rifle wants to shoot really good but your the one moving around.I Fireform in club Matches and do quite well...you may get a flyer however.
Looks like H4831sc will work just fine for your combination Karlandco. I would'nt dismiss it because its not working for someone else until you shoot it at distance for record and determine it for yourself. Many powders work just fine in the 7-6.5 PRC dereviants. Yes most find the N555 as one of the better ones.
"You are the one moving around..." Sadly all too true!I'm going right to N555 and Bergers for load dev and just using the other for forming. I managed third at the Nevada state LR regionals last year while fire forming. How accurate are fireforming loads, can one compete
Well done... Give us "lesser" mortals something to strive for... {:~)I managed third at the Nevada state LR regionals last year while fire forming.

For the record though I have to say I don’t recommend this powder for match loads. I have a ton of it so really tried to make it work but it was wasted effort. Once I scored 16lbs of n555 to use for this cartridge it was a revelation. Crazy low SD’s and improved group sizes. Shot a 200-10x the other day at 600 yards with an SD of 3.5 for the string. N555 is the easy button for the FCP.
Sure wish I could get my hands on some of that triple nickle... Have the 4831sc so that is going to have to do...I thought a 3.5 SD for a 20 shot string was pretty crazy low until today. This morning I shot three strings at 1K out at BRRC for a score of 587-23x in some pretty gusty and variable conditions. Challenging to say the least!!!
I've been trending towards less stout loads because of pressure signs and heavy bolt lift. This test was comparing my current match load of n555 at 56.8gn to 56gn. Dropping .8gn only gives up about 35fps but gives a significant improvement in precision and muzzle velocity consistency as well as eliminating any pressure signs.
This was starting with a cold bore aggressively cleaned with Free All and Iosso. Seems like once it gets properly fouled and warmed up it is amazing.
2.2 SD with an ES of 7.9 for a string of 20 shots is unreal. Better than anything I've ever shot previously.
N555 appears to be readily available online:Sure wish I could get my hands on some of that triple nickle... Have the 4831sc so that is going to have to do...
N555 seems to be "THE" go to powder for this cartridge... Just a shame it is so hard to get.
What projectiles were you using, primers, jump or jam... My 184's seem to like a goodly jump.
At least I do have some Berger 184's and when I can get some 180 Hybrid I will give them a go as well.
Many thanks, order being put in before it all evaporates as everyone I checked on about a week or more ago was "Out of Stock"... Put your name down to be notified when back in stock...N555 appears to be readily available online:
1-pounders @ Powder Valley, Natchez, Drifters Gear, MidSouth, Grafs, Midway, & Mile High.
8-pounders available @ Brownell's, Whidden & Mile High
