7-6.5PRCW load data

Is it weird that I’m hitting 2840 fps with 54.0 grains of N555?

Alex chambered a 32” straight tight chamber and I’m using lapua turned brass. My ADG brass just showed up and I’m tempted to switch my brass.

The other problem I was having last Saturday testing is I’d have really consistent string and then I’d have a shot drop 20-30 fps. It was a frustrating day due to that and my groups were terrible.
I’m shooting 180 hybrid, n555, gm210, lapua brass.
Would you guys think I’m having ignition issues?
Looks like your speed is about right for 54 gr of n555. I would work up from there. I am gett around 2900 with 56.5 gr n555 and it seems all my barrels shoot good around there. If barrel is new it will do weird stuff until 150-200 round in my experience… I’m new to this though.

I'm on my 4th barrel from Alex (he also built my rifle), I'm shooting 55.2g N555. Berger 180 Hyb Tgt, Lapua brass, neck turned by Alex, seated @2.338" CBTO. I'm getting right around 2850 w/single digit SD's & ES's below 20. I'm less than a year into f-class, shot in a regional match last weekend and missed 3rd place by 2 points...poor wind reading!

Hey great job!! I know this barrel will shoot well because of Alex’s work but I’m just needing to figure out what is going wrong with load development.

I have about 100 rounds on it. Maybe I’m not quite where the barrel needs to be.

I'm fairly new to this as well and I'm on my second barrel. With that being said, I learned a lot on my first barrel and burned through it pretty quick. On the second barrel I started at 57.5g of n555 then down to 56.8g after 125 rounds now I'm at 450rds and 56.6g. It's been pretty consistent since about 150-200rds. from my little bit of experience and knowledge I would work the load up to about 2920-2930fps and get some more rounds down the barrel. A little more speed will definitely help a lot in my opinion. I'm no expert and a majority of these guys on here know a lot more than me but that's my experience. 2900-2930 seems to do pretty well. Hope it helps.

It almost wants to shoot whatever you load it with, which makes it tricky sometimes. You’re kind of in between tune windows based on my last couple of barrels. Lots of good advice here, keep working your way up and it will come together.

Are you seating the primers to fully bottom out? Have seen this happen when guys are seating to depth rather than feel and not all primers where bottoming out.
^^^^ good one Alex!

When I loaded all that ammo for the pressure and velocity test... I did not uniform or true the primer pockets on the Hornady brass at all. Just seated the primers till they bottomed out by feel.

Shot my 7-6.5 PRCW for the first time in midrange match yesterday. Virgin Lapua brass vv555 with 180 hybrids jumped .012” at 2860fps. This thing is like a cheat code for midrange. Super accurate and relatively easy to handle. I am extremely impressed. Thanks to all those that contributed to the wealth of knowledge in this thread. Thanks to Alex W for making the specs available and all the work that went into design and development of this cartridge. I can’t wait to stretch this out to 1000yards.
