thankyou that was the info I neededI think you're talking a different animal but one I believe exists for what you want. What I think you are looking for is the 6.5 PRC AW2. It is widely used on 6.5 PRC's to open up the back end of an existing chamber. But it's only going to work on the 6.5. The 7-6.5 isn't going to be able to be used on your existing 6.5. I've seen people rent out their 6.5 PRC AW2's so that's an option.
He pretty much answered that question in a previous post.Do you have any insight was whether 180 VLD bullets will work with lead angle? Thanks in advance.
Yes, thats what made the 284 wheeler a wheeler, just this throat. Thats the first 7mm cartridge I used it in. So I just carried it over to the PRC when I designed that case. I have tried the 1 degree lead in the 6mm first in BR. I no longer use it and am back on the 1.5 because of weirdness that I saw. I will revisit it with a different bullet soon. Thats what Im saying, so far the 180 hybrid in 7mm is the only really good fit I have found for it.
Maybe I'm just not as astute or knowledgeable as you. He has mentioned 1 degree not working well in other cartridges. I was confused as to whether he tried other bullets in the 7-6.5 PRCW...He pretty much answered that question in a previous post.
I wasn't negatively pointing at you I was just pointing out (in case you missed it) that he had stated that the 1° has worked pretty much only for the 7mm 180 Hyb, first in the 284 and now the 7-6.5.Maybe I'm just not as astute or knowledgeable as you. No worries. I’m a novice trying to better understand these custom or wildcat cartridges. But thanks for clarifying. With your response along with Alex’s reply, looks like I will give it a go with this chamberingI wasn't negatively pointing at you I was just pointing out (in case you missed it) that he had stated that the 1° has worked pretty much only for the 7mm 180 Hyb, first in the 284 and now the 7-6.5.
no turn 0.319"What are the neck diameters for these?
Will this also work ok with the 184 Berger ?Yes, thats what made the 284 wheeler a wheeler, just this throat. Thats the first 7mm cartridge I used it in. You have to try different bullets and pay very close attention to how the guns tune acts over time. Just didnt work in the 6mm with the bullets we tried, didnt work in the ppc either. I have a lot of reamers, 308 and 300 wsm with it to not to mention all kinds of throaters with different angles. Who ever came up with the 1.5 degree lead did not do it by accident. It is by far the most versatile angle I have used that works with a lot of bullets and doesnt have weirdness to it.
