Easy, I just bought a Newlon micrometer seating blank and reamed it out with my chamber reamer. Also made an in-line die out of barrel using the reamer and bought a micrometer top for it.What do you use to seat the bullets?
When playing with Brass and moving up a size in Calibers, theoretically it's best to increase the Shoulder Angle. In this instance the 6.5-PRC is 30 Degrees so usually 32-35 Degrees is adequate. Why? To eliminate the possibility of Donuts, you need to raise the shoulder & neck Junction. When doing this you raise the shoulder slightly and shorten the overall length of the Brass. The PRC line of Cartridges is already "Improved" my design only seeks to lessen the likelihood of Donuts and increase brass life, it's purpose is not to increase case capacity. Also by changing the name of the Cartridge to 28F is eliminates the confusion as to what the Cartridge is. 284 Caliber for "F-Class" shooting. My illustration is merely a rough draft of course, but it's based on experience. This is not meant as a SAUM replacement, merely a better mousetrap. Cheers!Whatever the 7-6.5PRC is we need to get a standard design set up that is fire formed from 6.5PRC Lapua Brass across the board. I'd recommend a 35 Degree shoulder but honestly think it's going to be F-Class shooters who decide. I can dream up any diagram, but only the competition shooters will define a lasting Cartridge based on Brass life through development and capacity./just threw a fake in for grins "28-F" not PRC.
Yep, exactly...From talking with a couple shooters that have several reloads on their brass. The neck angle of 30 deg or 35 deg makes little difference to alleviate the donuts. Its like the 6.5x284 Lapua brass we used to neck up.
Same story here. Just seat your bullets above the donuts and your good.
Nope. I run 35 and still have a killer donut. When you Neck up from .264" to .284 the base of the Neck moves down in the Case, this creates a Donut. By changing the shoulder location further up and changing the shoulder angle to 35 degrees you literally move brass (where the Donut is) down into the Shoulder. This eliminates the area in the neck where the Donut would be, "Poof" it's vanished into the Shoulder.
Yep, I just seat ahead of the Donut and I've always been good to go.Don't worry about it. Throat properly and it won't matter. Brass flows forward. Everything gets a donut eventually. It's lower on my list of important than even concentricity or ES.
Depends on brass more than anything else at this point. Will the 7-6.5 PRC over come the 284 in fclass??? What's your thoughts
You say multiple of the PRC but show me where it’s in stock. I need some.Multiple quality manufacturers of 6.5 PRC brass.
Zero manufacturers of high-quality 284 brass. Lapua isn't producing until the proxy war is over. Peterson hasn't had a 284 run in ages...
It’s no so much being behind the curve so to speak.I think if you dont have brass already, you may be behind the curve so to speak.
There will be more brass again in the future, but anybodys guess as to when.

In stock might be a tall order, however, these folks have proven reliable and very prompt on backorders in the past:You say multiple of the PRC but show me where it’s in stock. I need some.
