62 eld vt

Will a 8 twist stabilize this bullet in a 223 ? 62 EDL VT Hornaday . Also someone said it has a a BC as good as some 75 grain bullets .

It's essentially an 88 grain ELD match that they didn't fill to the tip with lead so it only weighs 62 grain. Bearing surface is that of the 88gr so 8 twist or faster is required ;)

So my. 223 7tw Urbanrifleman Wilson barrel chambered with the ISSF reamer should shoot these accurately? Considering I do my part un load development and shooting....

Correct. Should be ideal.

I have a 223 ISSF barrel that I made for Lauren. I will take one of these bullets when I get home and shove it in the free bore and see where it sits in the neck. I bet it's going to be just about perfect with a little bit of jump.

It's THAT long? Shoot! I load the 88s to 2.50" for .223. Great ammo, but I wouldn't take that inconvenience for a bullet that only weighed 62

Those new Hornady 62gr ELD-VT's are 1.055 OAL which is just slightly shorter then the 80gr ELD-M which is a, VERY, long bullet for only being 62 grains.

For comparison, they're only 2 grains heavier then a 60gr Vmax but 200 thou longer in OAL. The only thing I have with a fast enough twist to shoot these things is my 224 Terminator but with and 8tw and launching them 4000+ fps I don't think they'd survive a bullet rpm of 365,000+

Correct, 1.050 +/- “ in length. The 75 Eldm is 1.135” ish and the 80 Eldm is another .040 or so longer than that. An 8 twist will shoot them and a true 9 twist at elevation can most likely sneak by. May not realize full ballistic potential though.

I got to go find a couple volunteer rockchucks to help me test expansion…. Soon Grasshopper, soon !

So ya

quite a difference in length should be good in 8 twist
