223 24" best bullet to blow up P Dogs?

Responded to your other thread on recoil and just saw your rig, looks good;-).

Have you tried a Harris or Atlas type bipod, compared to your above the bore?
I've used a harris and similar ones that go under the barrel. Night and day difference, those all seem like balancing a ball on top of a pyramid they want to tip over. In terms of stability this new one is on a different level.

It was much easier to take precise shots at the range with it vs A lead sled or bags.

No one burned up a 223 barrel in a weekend.

Maybe you haven't seen it but I have. Brand new rifle, first trip. We were in a hot spot and shot steady for several hours and later in the day my buddy couldn't hit squat. He hadn't changed rifles, just hammered away. Cleaned that night, gun never shot again ...rebarreled.

Most likely just dirty.

Typical AR-15 barrel will go 5000 plus and still shoot 1/2 minute. Even shooting rapids and hot loads.

I suggest you get a bore scope for the future.

Of course I will sell you all the barrels you want!!! Hahaha

What's a borescope? You got me on that one...

Happy to know an AR will shoot 1/2 moa.
Most wont shoot 1/2 MOA. I've tested quite a few and its more like 1-3 MOA. Daniel Defense, Colts etc.

I had to make two custom varmint ARs to see if sub MOA was doable. 24" heavy barrels and they are around 1/2" moa sometimes .25 sometimes .75.

BTW I did test a bullet that is suppose to blow them up good. The 36gr Varmint Grenades.
They are the only bullet that was not under 1 MOA in my two 24" ARs. 1 to 1.7 MOA. I only tested two loads of 2230 (Xterminator) but it was a WTF moment when I saw the groups.

28 grs of 748 and a 50 gr Speer TNT bullet will do the job. Now think if you are going to shoot off a bench or walk and stalk. if your walking Just go with a 20" H-BAR barrel. That's what the .223 was designed for.
If your driving to a spot and setting up benches. go with the 24" Bull Barrel.
Don't buy any complete upper, Get an upper receiver and a Good barrel (Krieger, Bartlein. Shilen, Lilja)
Have the upper lapped for the barrel extention. A little blue loctite on the barrel extention when putting together. Torque to 30 lbs and then 40 lbs and finally 50 lbs, bring the hole to clear for the gas tube. Make sure the gas tube is not bent or touching either side of the hole in the upper receiver. I like a smooth round handguard like the JP or Nordic arms ones. Nothing to catch on putting into a soft case. You can put a swivel stud on either for a sling or Bipod!

Back to pills that explode, try the 53 gr Hornady and the 55 gr Sierra Spitzer. No plastic tip or fancy bc, but put on a show.

748 and the TNT in anything. 224

Back in march i used 50gr vmax and was just fine. While i do get a laugh seeing them fly in the air, id rather get the sound report that i hit them and they are down. I had a few fly but was having fun eather way. This was out of a bolt rifle. I also use them in an AR that i just got ready for coyotes. Will find out in fall how that goes!
