I've used a harris and similar ones that go under the barrel. Night and day difference, those all seem like balancing a ball on top of a pyramid they want to tip over. In terms of stability this new one is on a different level.Responded to your other thread on recoil and just saw your rig, looks good;-).
Have you tried a Harris or Atlas type bipod, compared to your above the bore?
No one burned up a 223 barrel in a weekend.
Maybe you haven't seen it but I have. Brand new rifle, first trip. We were in a hot spot and shot steady for several hours and later in the day my buddy couldn't hit squat. He hadn't changed rifles, just hammered away. Cleaned that night, gun never shot again ...rebarreled.

What's a borescope? You got me on that one...
Happy to know an AR will shoot 1/2 moa.
Awesome. Maybe if I get one I'll be able to shoot some decent groups some day.
Most wont shoot 1/2 MOA. I've tested quite a few and its more like 1-3 MOA. Daniel Defense, Colts etc. What's a borescope? You got me on that one...

748 and the TNT in anything. 22428 grs of 748 and a 50 gr Speer TNT bullet will do the job. Now think if you are going to shoot off a bench or walk and stalk. if your walking Just go with a 20" H-BAR barrel. That's what the .223 was designed for.
If your driving to a spot and setting up benches. go with the 24" Bull Barrel.
Don't buy any complete upper, Get an upper receiver and a Good barrel (Krieger, Bartlein. Shilen, Lilja)
Have the upper lapped for the barrel extention. A little blue loctite on the barrel extention when putting together. Torque to 30 lbs and then 40 lbs and finally 50 lbs, bring the hole to clear for the gas tube. Make sure the gas tube is not bent or touching either side of the hole in the upper receiver. I like a smooth round handguard like the JP or Nordic arms ones. Nothing to catch on putting into a soft case. You can put a swivel stud on either for a sling or Bipod!
