2014 NRA F-Class Mid-Range Nationals At Camp Perry

Painless2,

The dates for the NRA Mid-Range Nationals at Camp Perry are July 25th - July 29th. July 25th is Team day which will be followed by four days of individuals on July 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th.

Long Range begins on July 30th and ends on August 3rd.

I am told that NRA hopes to have on-line registration available by February 1st.
I am also told that NRA has fixed the glitches with the on-line registration that frustrated so many shooters last year.

For further details please see my original post.

Thanks,

DE-F-Open

James,

That's a good question - unfortunately I don't have the answer to that question yet.

The schedule I currently have shows the PALMA Team Day as August 3rd.

Last year, if I remember correctly, they shot team matches after the individuals on the 2nd day and the 3rd day - if that holds true for 2014 that would mean team matches following the individuals on July 31st and August 1st - but as of right now I am just guessing.

I think they are still working on the details of the program......

I will know more about Long Rang after the High Power Committee meets on October 26th -

I know that's not much help, but that's all I have right now....

Will pass on more, when I have more,

Boltman 223,

Nothing definitive. Most of what was discussed and decided now has to go to Competitions Rules and Programs Committee for finalization. But based on the discussion it looks like things are moving along quite nicely.

NRA Staff is working on obtaining sponsors so as to ensure a quality awards schedule, but until that's completed it would be premature for me to say much beyond that.

Still awaiting the programs for Long Range and for the World Championship Rehearsal Matches.

Will keep you posted.

thanks,

kybountyhunter,

Yes- F-Class shooters will be able to shoot in the Long Range Matches at Camp Perry.

Long Range will be shot on July 30, July 31 & August 1st. followed by PALMA Individuals on August 2nd and Palma Team Matches on August 3rd. F-Class (both F-Open and F-T/R) can shoot in all of those matches - July 29 - Aug. 3rd.

I also understand that F-Class shooters will be able to shoot in the World Championship Rehearsals that will be held at Perry beginning on August 4 running through August 10 - but I need to confirm that.

As soon as I have full and complete information on the F-Class Long Range Program for Perry I will be posting same - but I want to be careful to make sure I get it right before I do.

I am hoping to have all of that information for you after Competitions and Rules Committee meeting on December 8th - but make no promises, except to say that when I am sure, I will let you know.

Hope this helps,

DE-F-Open

You are most certainly welcome.

Hope to see you at Perry, if not before.

Until then, shoot well, be safe

Shootn Junky,

Here's the latest update on the 2014 Mid-Range National Championships @ Camp Perry

Day #1 - July 25th - will be Team Day - 4 person teams
July 26, 27, 28 & 29 will be Individual Match days
Days 2, 3,4 & 5 - Individuals - shot at 300, 500 & 600

There will be daily aggregates (awards) for each of those four days and a 4-day grand aggregate, including NRA Class awards for those aggregates.

Rifle categories will be F-Open, F-T/R, Any Rifle, & Palma Rifle

For those shooting "Any Rifle or "Palma Rifle", Day #2 ( 1st Individual Day) will be "Any Sight"; Day 3 and Day 4 will be "Iron Sight", and Day 5 (the 4th Individual Day) will be "Any Sight".

Obviously F-Open and F-T/R will be shooting under F-Class Rules and will shoot the same program every day.

NRA was able to obtain sponsors to help make this Mid-Range National Championship possible - once we know who those sponsors are, we need to thank them and show that we appreciate their support for our sport.

NRA hopes to have the Camp Perry Registration web site up and running sometime in February - they are still working on the F-Class Long Range Program (The Great Lakes Championship) and the web site cannot go live until that's completed.

From what little I know on F-Class Long Range, we will be shooting the same matches as the other long range shooters but the F-Class tournament will be called The Great Lakes Championships. I hope to have more details on F-Class Long Range relatively soon - I do know that NRA is actively seeking sponsorships for this event in the hope that F-Class shooters can enjoy a full schedule of awards, etc. - For those F-Class Long Range shooters planning to shoot the F-Class National Championships in October in Phoenix, The Great Lakes Championships @ Camp Perry will be a great opportunity to prepare for that event.

Hope this helps,

DE-F-Open

Shootnjunky,

I forgot to include one thing that doesn't apply to us F-Class types but is important to the others:

For those shooting something other than F-Class, the Team matches for Mid-Range will be "Any Sight".

Sorry, I should have put that in the original response to your question.

See you at Perry, (I hope)

Wouldn't shooting at Ben Avery be better preparation for that event? The range and conditions could not be much more dissimilar between northern Ohio in August and Phoenix at the end of October and early November. The two events are also separated by three months. While it seems likely that participants will have a good time at Camp Perry, touting it as preparation for Phoenix is specious.

Good morning Sleepygator,

You are correct.........mostly,

Of course shooting Ben Avery in preparation for shooting the F-Class Nationals at Ben Avery makes sense and would be better than shooting Perry to prepare for Ben Avery - but for those of us from the East and the central parts of the US, Camp Perry is a lot closer; and unlike out west, we have very few 1,000 yard ranges to choose from. Shooting long range at Perry, in a national championship setting should be a good experience that should help prepare for the Nationals in October.

Going to the Berger SW Nationals in two weeks will help too.

Hope to see you at both,

DE-F-Open

My group just made all our arrangements to attend the Great Lakes match!! I am planning to bring my son along for his first long range match, so he is very excited about it. We have our lodging reserved and plan to shoot the team match also!! Thank you Camp Perry crew!!

Camp Perry is preparation for Phoenix only in the sense that any competition would be, regardless of venue. To that extent, you are mostly correct. But, what would make more sense is to arrive early and shoot the Arizona State Long Range Championship immediately preceding. There is, of course, nothing wrong in attending Camp Perry and I am certain attendees will regard it as a rewarding experience. [br]
Competing the Berger SW LR Nationals is also good, although the winter weather patterns are not like those in autumn. Shooters from the northern states will likely have ended competitive activities some time before the Nationals and may be a bit rusty. The best bet is to use the AZ LR as tune up and range familiarization. [br]
I will be in Phoenix next month but not Ohio in summer. We shoot two 1000 yard days and one 600 yard day nearly every month at Camp Pendleton. More than enough to keep busy.
