I’ve shot about 60 dogs with the 80 Dominator and it is definitely NOT fur friendly. If I told you that, I didn’t mean to!The 6 GT is a really good choice. For 300 yards and fur friendly, get you a good 12 twist barrel in a
number 4 size (or size of your choice) and test the Sierra 70 GR Blitz King, the 70 Gr Varmageddon, Barts 80 Gr dominator and the 68 GR Avenger. All of those will be fur friendly, accurate and very deadly. Look no further...You will be very pleased...
If this is the case the short list is any 6MM that won't work.I should’ve mentioned. I will never shoot past 300, most of my spots I can’t even shoot that far if I wanted to, so long range is not really a consideration for me.

There’s a whole slew of 6mm cartridges I’m interested in but have no direct experience with any of them. Whatever I end up going with will also be my first cartridge that I handload exclusively for.
I read about guys pushing the 62 grain varmint grenade around 3700+ and rarely getting exits. That’s the kind of performance I’m after.
6x47, 6arc, 6XC, 6creed, 243….
Let’s hear your input. I’m probably overthinking this, but I will likely never get a free rifle again so I want to make the most of the opportunity.
I have been around a few Catbirds and never seen a 70 gr go over 3700fps.243 Catbird 1-12tw 80gr Berger FB Varmint @4100fps
Damage report on that?I’m going to vote 6xc. It’s the only 6mm I have shot coyotes with. Never had any trouble. 75vmax going 3550fps
Just running your 6mm load…Build yourself a hotrod Chcks dig them
I like speed, so I shoot a 22-6MM AI and a 6MM AI. I shoot 50 gr Sierra Blitzking in the 22-6MM AI at 4300 fps. And 55 gr Sierra Blitzking out of the 6MM AI at 4180 fps. I hold on fur out to 475 yds. I use the duplex reticle as my range finder. The bullets are tough on fur but I don't care. There both easy to load for. I form my brass with 5 grs of blue dot. Then fill with cream of wheat and shove the neck into a bar of soap. You will also have the cleanest barrel you ever seen.
Great shot. Looks like he was out at home too. Slid a ways it looks like.Made a hell-of-a-running shot on the snow dog:

My 1st LR build was a 338/300 Ultra which stayed super to 2K, but got tired of the blast & concussion. With what bullet and velocity??
My 7-300 Win Mag shooting 180g ELDMs at 3000fps doesn't even stay supersonic to 2K...
