Need input on a 6mm coyote build

I'll jump in on this one. Mine is another vote for the 6x47!!!! I'm also running the 105 Berger @ about 3150.... I've gotten several 500 yard kills on coyotes! I love that round, & I'm not that surprised I guess that many others use it. Where I live a 500 yard shot on one is fairly common, but my 6x47 makes it an easier task to complete!!!

I won a custom bolt action rifle, and I intend to make it a dedicated coyote rifle

There’s a whole slew of 6mm cartridges I’m interested in but have no direct experience with any of them. Whatever I end up going with will also be my first cartridge that I handload exclusively for.

I read about guys pushing the 62 grain varmint grenade around 3700+ and rarely getting exits. That’s the kind of performance I’m after.

6x47, 6arc, 6XC, 6creed, 243….

Let’s hear your input. I’m probably overthinking this, but I will likely never get a free rifle again so I want to make the most of the opportunity.
Make the most?
Then make it a 6x284 in 8 twist and never look back.
Accurate for hits on yotes as far as you can see.
------------------------------------------------------------
Otherwise I'd likely go for a 243AI or a 260AI

I should’ve mentioned. I will never shoot past 300, most of my spots I can’t even shoot that far if I wanted to, so long range is not really a consideration for me.
I this the case, and fur is no concerne anything will work, but I will never own a heavy for caliber varmint rig again, I like speed, and 6x47 Lapua for a new to custom rifle builder, in my opinion is better than the 257 for short range.

First off this is a very easy to load for cartridge, my experience is as easy as the 6BR but with more ass without stomping on your brass! to 300 yards after owning a 1-8 and 1-10 twist rifles, out to and including 600 yards I will take the 1-10. I am shooting a 95 grain botail that has the same G1 coefficient as the 105 berger, but I got an easy 200 fps on it with the same coefficient gives me flatter shooting. But to 300 yards for coyote that is an easy sighted properly aim dead on out that range.

Plus the 1-10 with 75 to 95 grain bullets I have a wealth of choices for powders, with the heavier bullets, my options narrow significantly. The 22BR is a great choice as well, @ 300 yards anything from 22-250 to 25/06 is useable, but the 6x47 Lapua is my sweet spot, and one of the easiest to load cartridges I've shot. It is not picky with any bullet, works excellent with many powders, when you pick the right rifling for the bullet you are shooting. low and slow, to mild or wild.

The bullet you choose is way way more important than how fast it’s traveling, where terminal performance and fur damage are concerns. Therefore, whatever cartridge you like will be fine.

All that being said….

I’ve tried them all, except a 6XC, and a 6BR with a 68-70 stands alone for a calling rig as far as I’m concerned.

For sure it is hard to go past the plain vanilla 6BR... good brass availability, good bullet selection and dead easy to get a performance load.
I have campaigned the 103's from 100-1,000*= though not on coyotes at 1,000, just too far to be ethical... only out to 500-600.
There is a reason that this little cartridge it is so popular.... It just plain shoots anything from 65's to 1o7's ...!

I’ve got a .050 13.5 twist, a .104 10 twist, and 8 and 12 twist BRAs….. all set up for hunting stuff from Varmint to mule deer.

6gt is what I’m having built. Not I need to choose bullet/twist
I have friend shooting a 6GT in F Open and he is getting terrific results with the 110gr Sierras with Varget.
Saw him shoot 200.13 at 700yards and it is still a work in progress. This has replaced his 6BRAI.
Barrel is 1:7.5 to spin up the 110's

The 6 GT is a really good choice. For 300 yards and fur friendly, get you a good 12 twist barrel in a
number 4 size (or size of your choice) and test the Sierra 70 GR Blitz King, the 70 Gr Varmageddon, Barts 80 Gr dominator and the 68 GR Avenger. All of those will be fur friendly, accurate and very deadly. Look no further...You will be very pleased...

@ Lever,..
You WON'T go "Wrong" with,.. ANY of, the following,.. a 6x47L, a 6 GT or,. a 6 XC.
Pick, a Range of Bullet Weights you Like ( for Twist ) and,.. the PROPER Free Bore needed for them and You'll Be,.. Fine !
Personally I'd Avoid, the 6 Creed and .243 Win, as they are a Bit "Harder",.. on, Barrels !
Unless, using, Factory Ammo,.. IS, a necessary,.. criteria !

For Blasting Yotes,.. the 70 Gr Sierra Blitz, 70 gr. NBT, 80 gr. FBHP Targ. / Varm't Berger, the 87 gr. H-VLD's and 95 gr., Classic Hunter, Bergers or, 95 gr NBT's, CAN all be shot, "effectively" with,. a 9 Twist Barrel & a short, .070 FB,.. "Well" !
All of, these Bullets,.. ARE,.. "Killerz" and the 87 and 95 grainers, will Drop, Deer and Antelope, DRT too,..
If, ever, Desired !
AND, all are, VERY, Accurate 6mm Bullets !
