Coyote bullets …

I’m thinking about a 55gr BT screaming around 3700 or so…

70gr speer TNT around 3000

Or a 87gr vmax around 2850

Anyone have input on performance with those? (Or others) I’m looking for hard hitting but minimal exits… I should note that most of my shots are 80-200

You'll get some erratic results from splat wounds and the 55s in my experience. The 70g nbt is 100x better in 243 case capacities in my experience. The 87g vmax is also superb on dogs. I used them in my 240 wby for a couple years and it was fantastic. DRT and nice exits everytime. I'm now using the 108 eldms from a 6 CM and they are also fantastic.

The 55s may work out for you since they're not going 4k-4100. I'd give em a whirl for sure. You said you didn't want big exits, but sometimes those 55s splash pretty good on shoulders and make a pretty nasty hole too.

The 6mm - 70 TNT, in my experience on deer
Makes a nice entry wound
And a huge exit on the opposite side with shattered ribs (within 100 yds)
Great for guys who know how to lung shoot
That was my fav 100 yd deer round (they take one leap and collapse on their front legs)
For Yotes, I like 17's out to 200 and fast 224's like 22 BR's and Swifts

The Sierra #1515 80grn Varminter Bullets has work well on Coyotes when I used them in a 6x45mm(6mm-.223) AR15 in the past. Min. pelt damage and accurate.

I have shot the 87(2770fps) 70(3350fps) in 6bra both kill coyotes awesome, I have killed a few deer with the 87vmax but it wasn’t just awesome deer. 70 is my go to for prairie poodles though

Using a 6-284, 243, or 6xc, either of these bullets will do fine. 70gr NBT at around 3500-3700, 80gr Sierra #1515 at around 3400-3600, and the one I've been most impressed with is the 75gr Vmax at 3500-3600.

I can't remember ever having an exit on the Vmax. As far as damage.. it depends on where ya hit em. JME. WD

From 80 to 200 yds is extremely close shooting. I have been down this road before. My "go to" combination was a 40 gr Vmax doing about 3850 fps from my .22BR. 95% of the time it did not exit. But, this assumes perfect bullet placement. Any combination can destroy a coyote hide with poor shot placement. An 87 Vmax from my 6Dasher does great at 3050 fps. Quite a few kills at 500 yds or so with minimal damage. But, there again, you have to place the shot. Period. Good luck and keep us posted.

The 55gr NBT has been my goto for the 6x45 and 6mm-204 for a very little ng time. Stay away for m the edges and they work well on coyotes.

Last season I started using a 6mm ARC with 75gr Speer HPs, I just ordered 500 more. I only shot two with it and both were facing me so they traveled lengthwise and left zero damage as the bullet stayed in.
