7 FCP, a cartridge developed specifically for the F Class Scene...

I'd like to hear from other FCP shooters who were using RL16 - where did you land with your load, how did it shoot, and how was the powder behaving with temperature swings?

This looks like a wide node, but I’m not sure how the brass will hold up at that velocity.

I am at 55.6 at your same velocities so you are right where you need to be. I am at about 80-90 ambient so if your a bit cooler would explain the slight increase in charge.

For anyone still shooting the 7fcp - what CBTO are you seeing when using 180 bergers ? Brand new barrel and I am getting 2.4120" at the lands (not much of the any bullet is being held by the neck) -

Thanks

I am using a JGS reamer supplied by fcpproducts. The chambering was done by fcpproducts as well. Looking at the amount that the bullet is inserted into the 7fcp brass neck, its hard to imagine that the barrels will last for 1600+ rounds (assuming that you try to keep the seating depth constant as the chamber erodes). I'm not sure why the 7fcp chamber has .260" freebore.

My current barrel was chambered with an early PTG reamer. I have exactly 2.420" to touch on the lands with the 184 Berger Hybrids.

I use the method where you remove the barrel and mount it vertically in a barrel vise with the chamber up. Then I keep advancing the bullet into the case until I can just feel it touching the lands. It's all by feel but I think it works well.

My loads are CBTO = 2.405". I have 800 rounds on the barrel and haven't had to change seating depth at all. Actually I think it's been shooting better as the round count has gone up.

For the record, the 7FCP seriously helped me make High Master at 1000yards. I was close but never quite there with the .284 Win. It's an excellent cartridge.

So does the current FCP reamer have this Bore Rider freebore lead angle.

I have been studying some pt&g reamers with it, particularly the pt&g 7-6.5 PRCW bore Rider print.

The freebore lead angle length looks huge on it, like doubtful you'd ever have bullet touching lands. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Yes I can have the bullet touching the lands on the 7fcp; however not much of the bullet will remain in contact with the brass neck. This was the reason for my original concern about CBTO.

180's can definitely get to the lands but as Poor Shot mentioned there's not a lot of bullet in the case. Without a doubt it was designed to maximize case capacity. You could order his shorter free bore reamer and throat to whatever you need if you wanted less free bore.

@swd just completed fire forming my brass. Any suggestions on how much to jump / jam berger 180s ? I plan on using N555 for my powder.

thanks

I've had good luck with them all over the place, LOL. Really close, .002'-.006" seems to work well as does .050"-.080". And I think my first barrel was somewhere around .038". Easy bullet to work with..
I never tried them in but suspect there might be some magic there too!
