Look at the UK for a glimpse at the future. I recently spent over an hour filling in the forms to renew my licence. No changes required, still need the medical report and visit from the police. Then the £200+ in various fees. I'm surprised at the changes in the US.

I know people who moved from California to Oregon 30 years ago specifically because of the gun laws in California being too restrictive and the laws in Oregon seemed like heaven on earth. Oregon at the time was a “shall issue” carry permit. They had to prove you did not have the right to carry.

What's ironic is that I believe that is still the case concerning CCW permits. Still easy to have the sheriff check you out, pay your money and get a CC permit. But if you need to buy a gun, there is no way to accomplish it.

Here in The People's Democratic Socialist state of Delaware, we now have to go through the same process as a CCW applicant just to buy a handgun. It's all because of the low lifes in Wilmington, Dover and Seaford.

Our gun lobbyist need to approach this differently. So much of this legislation only inconveniences the legal gun purchaser, it will not have a long term influence on the street crime. A one solution "fix" is a fools thought. Keeping high capacity guns away from the mentally ill, is different than keeping hand guns away from the street corner dope addict. Inconveniencing and making dumb rules for legal purchase is a fools errand. At my age a requirement for a 'gun safety' course is redundant. I've had gun safety in scouts, summer camp, a hunting license requirement, U.S. Army, National Guard and rifle ranges, public and private. At 83 years old, how much more do I need? Our "gopher group" has much stricter rules than most ranges. The bolt is open unless your heads on the stock, aiming at , a gopher, our shooting tables are on a platform, truck mounted, about 8' above the ground. Well above anyone's head. We need lobbyist, well informed with good statistics, that are not belligerent, yellers and screamers, like WLP or Harlon Carter. The work needs to be done well before the 'hearings stage'. We have many well educated 'gun writers' and other professionals that should be involved.

The people who come up with these restrictive and unreasonable regulations are idealists who basically think that "NO GUNS PERIOD" is the correct answer. That goal isn't do-able in the short term, so they simply use every possible means to restrict, hamper, and thwart the possession and use of guns and anything related to guns wherever they can.

Since their goal is based on idealism instead of practicality, any good that comes from it will be accidental, and probably inconsequential, and will come at the cost of stealing the rights which we all are born with.

These idealists are moronic in their regard to unintended consequences, and will never see themselves to blame for any mayhem they might cause to achieve their dream.
They are dangerous in ways that they aren't smart enough to realize. jd

I don`t think you`re wrong. You just have a different view of it. I believe that these people are power hungry. They are begging for voters to vote for them knowing they are lying right in the voters faces, but they figured out how to manipulate the people into thinking they are doing the right thing so that they can get control over the people, and keep themselves in power. All these ego maniacs want, is MONEY & POWER. They get a taste of the power and they want more. Where else can you get a job that you can steal millions & billions from, with no accountability, and get away with it. Who`s gonna stop them? Us? lol

We're much the same here in WA. The way to solve this problem is to give each county a set number of delegates irrespective of population, but, that will never happen. Map below was labled as 2024 census but is dated 2012.

Of course, but I think they might require a background check for some or all. You could ask a local shop or simply go to the Oregon page and read it. Meaning worse case is the transfer fee and of course the check being done. Been a while since I looked at the rules but I think they have some bulk thing for collections that go to a family member via estate (death).

I'd start here: https://www.oregon.gov/osp/Pages/index.aspx and look at the FICS stuff.

Here you go, look at section 4 and read the header for it, then see 4c but of course read the entire statute or get someone in the know to verify. Appears to me that 4c lists everyone that's excluded from a background check as part of a transfer, but don't listen to me, I do NOT know.

Yeah sections C and D seem to have that covered for relatives. Friends not so much. Honestly unless I knew for sure whomever I was giving it to didn't had a forbidden background (felony) then I wouldn't do it without a check. I learned a long time ago there's exactly one person you can truely trust in this world and that's the one you see in the mirror. Although sometimes I wonder about them too!
