Sad Day for 2A

In 1963 part of my high school senior English class was everyone had to do a show and tell speech to the entire class. For my project I brought my 30-06 rifle and ammunition to class for my demonstration speech. The teacher gave prior approval for me to do this with the only restriction being that I was not allowed to load a shell into the rifle.

Also in 1964 when I was a young Navy Sailor I flew to my base located in California on a United Airlines aircraft and carried that same 30-06 rifle and my Ithaca 12 gauge shotgun through the airport and onto the aircraft as carry on luggage. At that time on this particular 4 engine reciprocating engine aircraft there was no enclosed overhead bins but just a overhead luggage shelf for your carry on luggage so everyone could see what was in the overhead shelf.

How do you think these things would go over today?

Lots of school shootings back then. .........

We opened a surplus military rifle packed in a box full of cosmoline in front of our school lockers about then.

Not sure where you are getting your info but this is far from over. You do realize they were counting on the lower courts in these states to kick this back or dismiss them. Trumps team even said that in an interview this week. They want to get to the supreme court and the only way to get there is through the appeal process.

I'll bet $100 that the U.S. Supreme Court does not hear a single case on this election prior to Inauguration Day. Are you in?

No I do not bet. We will all just have to watch and see. Lawsuit is being filed in GA in the next couple of days about their recount. The raid in spain recovered the server they were using for this vote changing was taken by USA military.

Dominon did not show up to the PA law makers hearing. This is not going away anytime soon. They can certify votes all they want and move Biden into the whitehouse this still will not go away.

The dems are not smart they just think the republicans and people have no spine. I think they are going to find out different. Do not forget about China either Biden could be impeached over that as well. Going to be a marathon not a sprine.

I still like Tucker and I watched Sidneys response so he was offered a witness and a document as evidence.

I am going silent for the rest of the weekend I have cabinets to build and some rifles to work on and I need to turn my brain off.

As a child, I was brought up believing you don't lie, cheat or steal. Your word is your bond. You conduct your affairs with integrity, honor, and truthfulness. You do not bear false witness. You are kind to others and help those in need.

However, although I was taught these principles, the message I internalized...wrongly...is that this is the way people are. All people. I was never taught and never learned until I became an adult that not all people are like this, that many people are the exact opposite and regularly lie, cheat, steal, and victimize others. They feel the rules of fair play are devices to be used to disadvantage others while giving themselves an upper hand.

I got the "innocent as doves" part but somehow missed the "wise as serpents" part!

Consequently I got screwed over a couple of times by things I ever saw coming. Because I could not conceive of doing a particular dishonest thing...it simply was not in my make-up...I also could not conceive of someone manipulating me and doing harm to me.

I think the current political situation is the same. You have half the people who are just fine and dandy with rampant corruption, pursuit of power at any cost, and tearing down the whole system either to get some benefit for themselves, real or perceived, or just simply out of spite. Then you have the other half that believe in all those lofty values that define the best of human behavior, conduct themselves accordingly and expect that everybody does the same.

Somebody once said, when the law is not applied equally to everyone at all times, when there is a two-tiered system of justice, then the law becomes only a way for those connected to power to punish those who are not connected to power. I fear this is where we are now and it's going to get worse.
