Bear creek bolt action AR

I ordered a 350 legend this morning. As soon as I get it will pull the barrel off and replace with a 16 inch blackout with the gas block turned backwards to close the gas port. Will install a short, fat suppressor. I am putting it together for my 8 year old grandson. That little can doesn't impress me on his 223.

I have purchased a couple of barrel-less side charging uppers from them over the years and a complete side charging upper. The latter isn't much good for accuracy, I just haven't rendered it down, yet, to rebarrel. What all the receivers have is a rather undersized "1913" rail. They work with Weaver rings, but most real 1913 spec rings won't tighten without shimming. With that in mind, they can still be useful. A turnbolt version would be nice if they add some primary extraction camming, especially for rounds like 6,5 Grendel.

Exactly. Which was the last time immigration laws were being enforced. Come January 20th, if laws are enforced again, they might just be short of manpower.
Kind of a joke, but not entirely
This would explain a lot...

I've never seen that news article before.

I have always thought AR's were an ergonomic PIA. I have one heavy barrelled that is heavy as lead and front heavy but accurate. I have the one I've used the most that is accurate, but still heavy (but it has served me faithfully as a farm rifle). I have one I built that won't shoot accurately and just leans in the corner. Then there's the SBR I built that is also heavy for it's size. The straight line stock and design of the action means you have to mount the scope high enough that it affects where you sight it in, and they are dirty as he double toothpicks. Unless you buy a really high end set, you have to work to make the upper and lower fit tightly. And, for me at least, the stock system is not conducive for quick shots.

I guess, for my uses I would rather invest in something else, like a Ruger Ranch, or a stock for my Rem Mohawk. I don't see the fun in making a bolt action out of an auto. People are diverse in their preferences, so I certainly understand those who might go down this path though.

i bought 4 of there standardish ar15 223 uppers for christmas presents year before last and they are all still functioning. as far as accuracy i haven’t any idea but i’d say 2 of the 4 have several thousand rounds through them without any major issues. don’t buy bca stuff with the intention if comparing it to an lmt or kac lol.

Talked with BCA 12/11/24 they stated next month 6.5 Grendel will be available in the bolt action ar upper soon to follow 308win and 6.5 Creedmoor now what I got from the conversation with the gentleman because I asked about 22arc possibly he stated buy the barrel of your caliber preference and install very easily on the bolt action upper I’m curious about the gas hole on the barrel if anyone has that information please post

Imo a easy lil cash grab for them would be to make some "blind" gas blocks for regular AR barrels shouldn't have hard at all I think...just a regular gas block but no hole...maybe a lil snugger fit

I don't NEED another receiver, have several, BUT this bolt action one would be nice to try.
How is Primary extraction?
The 350 for $345 and put another caliber barrel (one that would headspace) is a little much to buy. The Gen 2 straight pull complete upper in 350 legend is on sale from $300 to $225.
So, would the Bolt Upper/BCG be about $50 more than the old style?
(which is now $134, up from the $99 in the past)
The upper probably does not have a hole for the gas tube as that would be a safety issue if some put a gas barrel with tube on the receiver.

Some years ago, I ordered a non ported 300blk barrel from Xcaliber. Built it out on a Gibbz side charger. It’s actually quite ergonomic to operate, as the charging handle is on the left side. Me being right handed.

I imagine most any barrel source would do a non ported barrel. I’d be prepared for the up charge though… Xcaliber charged me, seems like $30-35 to change their program to delete the port.

ETA A heavier, non ported barrel does have a pretty clean look…..

Funny story;
I put together a No-Gas AR from a unfinished barrel without a gas port.
Was going to use open sights with a site block out close to the muzzle.
Installed a dummy gas tube (cleaning rod).

Installed a cheap scope and went to our public range to see how it shot.
I sort of made it obvious it refused to cycle and got ebucated on Dwell Time.
