The last 1 lbs. of Varget I purchased a few weeks ago was about $50 with tax, 1,000 Federal Small Rifle Match primers, F205M, $106. Both purchased at a local shop so no shipping or hazmat charges. The fact that they had these two items in stock amazed me. Still waiting for H4895, I missed the last shipment, it was gone in 3 days at the local shop after the last shipment arrived. He who hesitate is lost.
One of the reasons I almost exclusively shoot 223 Rem now days is the economy of this cartridge, I am getting about 280 reloads out of a can of powder. It also serves my needs quite well out to 300 yards for an effective varmint and predator cartridge. It also a great range practice cartridge. Varget is my back up, especially with the 55 Nosler BT's and 60 Vmax.
While I still have my 243 Win's, they see less and less action each year. I dumped the 308's and 22 250 a few years back and while both are great cartridges, I don't miss them or the cost to feed them. Such is the state of shooting in my world of fixed income survival. However, shooting is about one of the few things I have remaining that brings me enjoyment so I will continue on as long as I can.
PS: At the range yesterday with my Tikka T3X, 223 Rem. Wow, does this rifle shoot with 60 Vmax's. Shot a perfect score (my system

) which is rare these days, 5 in the 1-inch ring at 100 yards, 5 in the 2" ring at 200 yards, all shot off my shooting cross sticks. Bring on the yotes.
