Powder price increase

Just my 0.02. Gas will never be a $1.00 a gallon again. Primers will never be $25 a 1000 and powder will never be $10.00 a lb again. It's ashame but nothing we can do about it. If your gonna drive your gonna pay whatever fuel prices are. If your gonna shoot your gonna pay whatever supplie cost are. I'm not the guy who drives to the next town over to save a 0.05 on diesel. I pay whatever the price is when I need it. Same with primers, cores, jackets and powder.

Maybe someone will come up with a 6BR Mini Cooper to ease the pain a little.

Total the numbers of years for each party. 29 vs 24 If you go back to 1960, it shows a spread in favor of the dems. Statistics are often shown in such fashion as to support the view of the side that came up with them.

I'm sure it must be defective at that price.....lol
Well, he did have a 1lb of Benchmark at $50. That seemed steep. No way I was buying that... only cause I don't need it. If I did need it, I would probably have bought some 8lb bottle online than those 1lb bottles.

I noticed an 8lb bottle of 2400 on the shelf that has been there for a month and it was $320, but yesterday it was $322. lol I can't figure the guy out. lol

All the primers were at $99 though so it's not like everything is really cheap.

Apparently I screwed the next guy that buys bullets cause when I brought 500 45 230gr XTPs to the counter still in the $20s per 100ct, he said, "These are supposed to be more".

Shootingbot.com has been sending notifications recently for LR primers and various powders I've been using. Seems like there have been daily prices increases, especially for the primers. What was ,say, $90 yesterday, may be $115 today. Hogdon........... What was ~$43-45 lb. yesterday is ~$55-60 today. My wife is of the opinion that prices will come down if we wait. She refuses to acknowledge there is a new normal for everything price wise.

Without a doubt, inflation and demand play the major role in increasing prices.
That said, I am a bit surprised by the level of consolidation with Vista and also Hodgdon. These two companies control nearly all of the local market loading components and ammunition. Read this and then look at how much these two organizations control in the USA:
Food for thought…

I have been watching the price of Varget at a large online reloading supply vendor the last few days, as they stated prices would increase after Jan 15th. The price of one pound of Varget increased from ~$49 to ~$56, or just under a 15% increase. I typically use about 20 lb of Varget per year, so that would represent an increase of $140 per year (not including any changes to other costs such as shipping). I can afford that, even if I don't like paying it. I don't want to start an argument over anyone's personal finances, but $140 per year is not that big of a deal. In fact, I would respond to anyone that wants to argue the point that if they can't afford such an increase, then maybe shooting sports are too expensive for their income/budget. For those that want to tell me I'm part of the problem because I buy what I need regardless of the cost (within reason, anyhow), mind your own business. I will buy what I want, when I want, and it's none of your affair. If you think my actions are raising the price of reloading components such as powder, then you really have very little understanding of the market. The amount of reloading components such as powder that we buy as private reloaders is not even a drop in the bucket as compared to other consumers such as commercial and military ammunition.
Ned you are right on as usual, I agree with you
