10mm Auto and Blue Dot ?

I have a Glock 20 with KKM barrel standard length and 22 pound spring

My Components ;

Blue Dot powder
CCI 300 Large Pistol Primers
Starline Brass
200 Gr XTP Hornady
Lee Factory Crimp Die

I would like to get to the Norma original load of 1200 FPS with Blue Dot any suggestions?

You can reach 1200 fps with Hodgdon Longshot ,about 9.0 gr. I used it with a S&W 610
revolver.

My brothers and I took several classes

In one of them I used a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm using Norma's 200 grain factory load at 1,200 fps.

It really smacked the pepper poppers down with authority.

Later, went with Cooper to Africa on his Babamkulu Trek. Used the 10mm on several game animals. Worked great.

I had really good success with BE-86 and several bullet weights

BE-86 @8.6 with 200gr XTP is a great load

Longshot looks good if you read load books, but not good experimentally.

LONGSHOT "Hodgdon Basic Reloader's Manual 2002": LONGSHOT 6.0 gr.,
1.125", 4", 200 gr. HDY XTP, 954 fps, 32,500 psi

At 12 gr. the OAL springs out to 1.160", 12 gr. blew a small hole in case.
Looks like extractor pulled head loose from weld to case body, +100%
extra powder

Power Pistol works well and will get you close to 1200 fps with a 4 " barrel. I get 1220 fps with a 5" barrel

Love this Straight Shooter bullet 220gr Hi Tek coated 220gr hard Cast 22 BHN and it’s cheap too. Great for Alaska Bush !

Blue dot isn’t as good as Longshot. Longshot and 800-x are the hot 10mm powders to use. AA#9 is also decent. But definitely Longshot and 800-x can get you to full NOrma spec— and beyond.

i can do 1100 with a 230 gd in my g21 45 super with 8 gr true blue. Accuracy is good. Havent pushed it past that

I know I wish I could fine some Longshot for my G20 and 800X I heard they stopped production.

Ive heard stories of lead bullets flattening and failing to penetrate skulls and just sliding along the skull under the skin but that was many years ago. Good shooting load

Yes the Lead bullets have to be Hard Cast and 22BHN hardness

Back in the late 90’s we used Winchester Action Pistol. We shot 180 g hollow points going 1250 fps out of a 6” smith 610 revolver for bowling pins. Powder is discontinued by Winchester but I believe someone else picked it up under another name. I think it’s Ram Shot Silhouette.

so another vote for acc #9. blue dot was too flaky to measure well.
i went with a lighter bullet going faster,,,
how long have i been around 10mm ???? i have some of the "165"(actually 170 ) norma bullets
maybe power pistol

Oh know I live in big Bear Country of Alaska ! Lighter bullets and HP are a no go !
Although I am big fan of XTP 200gr and Nosler 200gr HP with 10.0 of BD.
Only Hardcast of 200gr to 220gr for me.

Got Blue Dot, Maybe you should move on for now? Not a bad magnum auto pistol powder
1150-1160 should be no problem. Maybe more depending how the barrel is throated?
