10mm

Wish I could but I am in the middle of a move from Bastrop after 15 years back down south because of the taxes here and the fact both of us just retired....I can sell here and buy a lot more land and house down there around Victoria etc....

Victoria is nice. Good luck on the move

I have been a 10mm fan for a long time but never owned one... That changed last week with a new Glock 20.... Got so lucky I never gave aways my 1400 large pistol primers when I sold my last pistol that used them years ago.... All my reloading stuff came in from midway and Dillon and actually shot some blue dot 180gr reloads a few days ago.... Ordered 500 brass from starline which will be in Monday.... I think this is going to be fun.... It's nice shooting something besides 9mm which I carry daily and own 6 of... Sometimes you just need a bigger boom to increase smile size... Merry Christmas everybody....
I have had 3 Glock 20 from Glock since introduction to 10mm. Now a Gen 4 model .
Welcome to world of 10mm G20.
Large Pistol Primers like CCI 300
Starline Nickle Brass
Blue Dot is what I use but Longshot / BE-86 / 800x are good powders
I you want a good trail load for protection
200/220gr Straight Shoooter Hard Cast
220gr @ 9.5 BD is what I use for bear protection
Suggest Talon Grips very easy to put on
KKM Barrel for better case support
NDZ 22 pound Recoil Spring and Rod kit
Wolff Extra Power Magazine springs
Sights I put a Glock Adjustable rear on my G20 with a Glock green night sight front sight
Suggest a Lee Factory Die to apply nice crimp to bullet
I have other load data for other bullets and powders if needed. It’s my trail gun here in Alaska.
If deer / soft game is on your menu the 200 Nosler HP and 200gr Hornady XTP would be excellent at 10.0 of BD.

Thanks on all the info... Do you by chance know what pound the factory recoil spring is for a gen 4 Glock 20..???

I’ve never had any cycling or feeding issues running hot 10mm or mild 40 S&W loads with the factory setup. I did upgrade to the NDZ spring because I wanted the stainless guide rod but I don’t feel like the extra weight of the spring gave me any advantage over the factory spring

Do you just need a .40 barrel and a factory Glock .40 mag to make the conversion..????
You can actually load your G20 with 40 S&W ammo just the way it comes straight from the factory using the 10mm barrel. It will shoot and cycle safely and reliably.

I do have an aftermarket 40 S&W barrel for my G20 but only because I feel it’s a little more accurate with the correct chamber cut.

Not sure if there is a conversion magazine available but it’s not needed. The factory 10mm magazine feeds 40 S&W perfectly.

There’s a ton of YouTube videos on stock G20s running 40 S&W with the 10mm barrel. Here’s a link to one of them.

Both the .40 S&W and 10mm cartridges chamber/headspace on the case mouth. If my memory serves me correctly, the 10mm case is longer than the .40 S&W. What stops the forward movement of a .40 S&W round when chambered in a barrel cut for 10mm?

40 S&W magazines are too small for the G20 mag well so they will not fit properly. Maybe there is a conversion magazine available but it’s not needed.

Hey thanks I might pick up a barrel just to have that caliber...

I would have spare extractors ready/tuned for installation!
Why?
I’ve never had any reason to worry about the extractor. They are the same exact case head and rim. There’s no crazy hard forward motion when loading the chamber from the magazine. It has to catch and stop a 10mm round exactly the same as a 40 S&W round because no case rim should be bottoming out in the chamber or you’re gonna have a ton of issues. If anything, I would expect running lighter weight 40 S&W rounds would be easier on the G20 extractor.

I run a G40 10mm, basically a long slide, long barrel version. Went with that for more sight radius when using irons and the MOS cut on the slide (didn't offer it at the time). Run a Leupold Delta Point Pro on it with a raised front sight and the DPP rear sight for backups.

I put a 20 lbs recoil spring on a NDZ rod. I felt full power reloads and Underwood 200 gran WN hard cases were beating up the frame. Also have a 22 lbs spring, but don't think it is necessary on the long slide G40 with the RDS on it.

I like AA #9 under Nosler 200gr HP or 200 WFNGC cast performance. I use Starline and Sig brass, but prefer the Starline.

Anyone here run Hornady 155gr XTP? Wondering if I can get 1500 fps for deer hunting, found some for cheap. I have some 800x and Longshot as well.

I also have a 40. I like to consolidate calibers, and it is nice that everything except primers and brass can be used on either.

Also, +1 on the Talon grips. Stock grip with a full power load is not ideal.

Perhaps my memory fails me, but the case end face is supposed to contact/head space on the end face of the chamber by design. That’s how I setup my .40 S&W chamber and trimmed cases. I never experienced a feed or extraction issue for well over 100,000 rounds in USPSA competition. If using the extractor hook works, that’s great!

XTP is one of my favorite bullets in any pistol caliber. I have 155gr xtp on hand but normally run the 180gr xtp for extra punch in the 10mm. I have only finished off animals that were first downed with a rifle using my 10mm, but from the terminal performance of the XTP bullets on animals that I have witnessed over the years, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to use them for handgun hunting. They are very accurate, hold together and mushroom very well, penetrate deep, and cause a lot of damage
