Sharp Shooter Supply

This has be hashed over and kick enough many times before just read the previous articles
In @savagedasher defense, I will point to the fact this forum has a unique and most useful tool. When the OP typed his thread title in the forum will automatically bring up many (if not all) threads related to his topic. Therefore OP should have seen the many threads generated about the business practices of SSS. The OP could have simply read thru them and added comments to b ring the most appropriate to the top.
Also, and this to me is of even more value, had he done so BEFORE he spent money and time with SSS then he would have know to STAY AWAY.

It seems to me that Billy Bob was looking for a current answerer to his question about SSS, and, got a very good response. But...…..
I do not understand why anyone would take the time, to respond, only to admonish someone for not searching. Why do you waste your time responding? Have you been diminished because he didn't search first?
The man has only 50 posts. How many of you in the beginning posted before searching?

Agreed! However the likelihood is high that someone would have complained about bumping an old thread which makes as much sense as complaining about the new thread. It makes zero sense to complain about what others post on a open forum when it is just so easy ignore things that are not of interest.
Don't mistake what I wrote for support of SSS. It most definitely is not meant that way!
Also, you are correct in that there are those that would likely complain about the old thread being brought back up. In this case bringing an old thread up about SSS would, IMO, be valid. I guess I have no "dog in the fight" because there are zero Savage rifles in my safe. How many are in yours?

Savage people are always assholes! I even have one but hope to pass it along and I'll never do it again!

Over 10 in mine

The last few times Ive seen you shoot at Manatee, you weren't shooting a Savage. I don't remember what brand but it was a custom action. If you won't even use one why would we take your advice?

I have read "all" the comments concerning SSS. I know Lisa and Fred pretty good.

Some of us are not "spring chickens" anymore.

Fred & Lisa have had their issues as we all are getting to that age. Fred is a great person, and very knowledgeable.

Lisa was busting her butt to try and please everyone. I forget how many emails she told me she processes monthly, but it's up there. I believe a little bit below 30,000 emails monthly. Plus the business has become very competitive in the last few years. People are hunting the lowest prices, but looking for quality components and workmanship.

Blanks "good quality" are almost impossible to get. Government Contracts takes priority these days! People like us get stuffed on the bottom of the piles.

I had hopes of helping out Fred a few years back. It was going to happen, but my back started giving me problems, and paralysis was in my future "if" I didn't have immediate surgery. It will wake you up pretty quick.

In my case, I required a 2nd surgery that was 5 times worse vs. the 1st surgery. Long story, and everybody's body is different. My L vertebrates would build cysts inside the spinal canal as a way it thought it was "helping" the issue I had. My disc from L3 to S1 were just worn out with osteoarthritis growing all over my vertebrates, inside and outside of them. The cysts were growing rapidly, and was cutting off nerve signals. The cysts were putting a lot of pressure on my sciatica nerve, and that's the "worst" pain I have ever had in my live.

I have many motocross accidents behind me, plus football, lifting weights, and bailing hay, cutting grass around the house, or bush-hogging the fields a few times a year! All the above contributed. All I can do is warn or advise people how to take care of their back before they get in my shape. I still have to wait 4 more months before I can think about shooting again. The largest I will be shooting is my 6.5x47 Lapua, 123 Scenars, and all of my 6mm's excluding my 243 Winchesters. My 6BR, BRX, DASHER, and I have a 6.0x47 Lapua that will probably become a varmint hunting rifle. This will be enough to keep me busy.

I am seriously thinking of building another 284 Winchester, and it "will be" on the heavy side with a can or HD muzzle break.

I am thinking about the Fat Bast***'s brakes on the 338. I think F/Class weight limits are close to 21 lbs. F/TR is around 18 lbs. With a weighted down 284, the recoil should be something I can easily handle. Sadly, my current 338's will be sold. I can easily shoot it, but 160 grain bullets is about the most I can go and my body take the recoil. I can shoot the 338 Edge with Barnes Triple Shock 160's @ 4,400 fps +/- a few fps, ES & SD are single digits every time it was chrono'd, and they stay together. I call it my 22-250 on steroids. it's a blast to shoot, and if you just want to see red clouds when hunting varmints, well this is the way to go. When loaded brass using the 300 grain Scenars, their very accurate, and great out to 1,000 yards. My shoulder could only take about 15 rounds a week with this combo.

It's looking pretty good for me these days, but the last 3 or 4 years have not been any fun whatsoever! I plan on giving Fred a call. I know he has cut out a lot of his products, especially some of his triggers which are very good. We will see how the situation for both of us, and maybe things will work out. hiring and paying good competent employess is almost impossible these days. I know several of the barrel turners are a "1" man operation.

JMO, and just felt like detailing a few things this morning. Off to see the "Tax Man" this evening, and who knows, I might be back in the Hospital! NO, I hope not!

Thanks, Dennis
