Sharp shooter supply

The last time I did business with SSS was maybe 20 years ago. I gave him a barrel at the BBB to have rechambered. I bought and neck turned 500 pieces of brass to the size the neck was supposed to be done. When I received the barrel (long after the promised date) it was not even close. Fred blamed Dave Kiff and refused to do anything about it. If you choose to do business with them, it's on you. There have been plenty of warnings.

kevin rayhill is not much better than SSS. I have had both build me rifles. Kevin slipped in about $200 of extra charges that were not on the quote that he sent before I sent him the parts. I now do all of my own Savage rifles.

The stock Kevin made was a Prairie dog special. I had a adj but and comb added. I rail down the bottom of the forearm. And painted OD green. It came as a turquoise color. And it flexed so bad it was crazy. If you put any pressure on the bipod it would flex the stock about 1/2 at the tip. I had a Rock Creek m24 barrel in 308win put on a LRPT action. It shot the same as the factory barrel did. So I spent almost $3000 on a gun that did not shoot as good as the factory gun did.

Now the 223 that fred built did shoot outstanding. But a 2 month turn around turned into 10 months. And I sent everything he needed. All he was supposed to do was time and true the action and assemble it. When I got it the bedding he did had all kinds of hole from air. The tang was not floated like it was supposed to be. He bedded that but half of it was missing as it looked like it was stuck to the gun when he popped it out and pulled off a bunch of the epoxy. I could never get them on the phone or to answer a email after i sent them a email with all the pics.

I dealt with SSS years ago and was happy with them until I was double charged for a muzzle brake to the tune of $170. I contacted Lisa and she said she would look into it. I never received a call or an email back. I then tried calling multiple times and emailing multiple times. In the end she wouldn’t return calls and blocked my emails. I even sent her the previous charge and the current charge to prove it was a double payment. They never rectified the situation and I have never purchased or recommend them since. Proceed with caution.
My experience exactly

I had a Savage 6br they built. Very nice rifle and would flat out shoot.

They worked the trigger and it broke clean right above 2 ounces. Nothing not to like.

My experience with SSS was wonderful took 4 years to get a bolt handle and a bolt head, and some other small item. Fred was sick, waiting on parts, excuse after excuse. So ten months ain’t bad. And I’m not lying this time.

I have purchased from SSS for several years, communicated with Lisa also, never a issue, and always recieved my order in a very good time frame. I will continue to do so, if needed.

A personal observation from a seminar during a VHA Jamboree some years ago at the clubhouse in SD.

Darrell Holland was a guest speaker on the subject of rifle bedding. While Darrell was at the podium trying to speak, Fred and his minions were snickering, joking, and mocking Darrell from the second row of seats, allowing everyone in the room to hear their antics. They were acting like complete rude adolescents (read: a$$holes) while most in attendance were trying to glean info from the speaker. Many gave them unapproving glances to make them aware they were not appreciated. Didn't work.

"Professional"? Not in my book. I wouldn't let those morons touch anything I cared about. Their actions spoke volumes about their character.
