Ultimate coyote round.

I vote for rounds that won't ruin the pelt. My main rifle has become a .17 WSM rimfire out to 150 yards. If out west (longer range), I go with a .223 with 55 grain bullets using an AR15 platform out to 300 yards. On the trap line, .22 magnum out of a revolver (works better when its -25 outside than a 22 LR).

Mike, I'm running a 6/284 with 88gr Bergers @ 3250 and it will put a large hole in a coyote. Never shot a groundhog but I image it would be devastating on them
Im getting 3250 with 44.o grains of H100-v in my 243 win & 88 Bergers in a 1-12 twist. I would think you could get a lot more than 3250 with your 6x284.

Appreciate the feed back guys! I would jump on that 25 WSM but, my action is std bolt face and like to keep it versatile for future use.

I looked at Hodgdon's load data for the 25-284 and it looks like 3,500-3,600 is achievable with varmint Bullets. I would imagine that would be sufficient to toss them around? It's not 4,000 but, should still see some impressive results?

Just south of 3,600 fps with IMR-4350 in my 243 with 87gr V-max using IMR-4350. Its an old 32" prone barrel I don't use for 1k anymore and I'm running molly. Basically like a .243 RAFOUS round.

You could buy a bolt and have both that would rally make it versatile.

I shoot 75 a-max's at 3750 from a 26in 5r broughton from a22-250AI since this is a no bs thread.

This, to me, really is the straight forward deal.....

Load and shoot, fire formed brass and go, Lapua is available to boot........

I`m going a little bit more with my deal and building a .22-243 AI to shoot the 75 or 80 Amax bullets.

The .22-250 AI with the 75 should do just about anything you want it to do.....

Phil.

I run a 22/243 with 75gr amax bullets. Amazing performance both ballistically and killing power. I've killed coyotes, hogs, deer, all dead in tracks. Simple to load too. Run through die and your good to go. Have just started trying the 75gr swift but haven't huntex with them yet. Any results someone cares to share.

He is right on
I'm shooting a 17MachIV 30 Golds at 3850fps does the job and a Tac is even faster. Rifleman knows what he's talking about

NO doubt!
My .17Predator is a lil' badazz coyote (and chuck) killer with a 30 Gold @ 4080fps...

But, when the goin' gets tough, the .22-243AI brings the hate on a whole nutha level. And it's almost as pleasant to shoot, surprisingly enough...

I just started shooting a 22/243 AI, 24" Hart 14T(used BR barrel), 60g Sierra at 4000 fps, tiny groups. The reaction on steel at 300 yards is nothing short of awesome and have not killed anything with it yet.

Nice!
That is a wicked little bullet, despite it's meager b.c. Good info to feed from, thanks!

I've got a 1:12 in que for the .22-243AI, and ooodles of 60 low drag JLKs to test. They've got a b.c that's a full tenth higher that the Sierras, and likely less bearing surface. That will pay dividends on the big end, assuming terminal performance is legit...
Hoping to see 4150+ from a 26" barrel, and it better do it, too! Otherwise, I'da just wasted time...cuz, any slower than 4150, and it won't hardly beat what my proven 1:8 can already do with a big, ugly Amax...

I am getting 4150 with 55 grain ballistic tips out of my 26" 12 twist 22-250 AI. Been my main coyote rifle for over 10 years and probably will be for the next 50!
