with jewell out of business(for the near future), what are BENCHREST shooters using for triggers?

Have had a Jewell in my Kelby F-TR rifle for six + years now , without so much as a minutes problem . Well , it did vibrate out of position once , and had to be re-adjusted once . Wouldn't cock the Bolt , but that was it .

After a long conversation with Matt Swartzkoff at BA on Thursday , I decided to take the plunge , and ordered a Shilen Competition Trigger , as a back-up , since I'm looking at the Az. State 600 , FCNC , and the SWN in the next few months . Rather have it and not need it , than need it and not have it . And the recommendation from Matt was good enough for me . I'm told that Mid , Nancy , Sherry and Michele have also used them . Well , DUH !

I also have Shilen triggers, both do rather well. But to be honest, none are exactly BR rifles, although they think they are at times.
Rifle basix is TRASH! I bought one and it fell apart while assembling it, contacted Rifle Basix and they said that they would Send me some springs etc. I said I wanted a replacement and they Ghosted me!!! Wouldn’t even bother to respond back!! Trash products and Trash customer service…. Might as well throw your money in a trash can… Because that’s where the trigger will end up!

I find it pretty interesting that it looks like Jewell won't be there to take care of the Jewell owners with customer support and the classifieds have had a bunch of Jewell's being bought up at inflated prices. If the ones I have break for whatever reason, I will be moving on to a product with customer support.

Regards
Rick

That’s an interesting Experience, their customer service has always been very good for me.

When I installed mine, it’s got a very interesting design I’m not sure what the proper name for the part is but the top piece that is silver that engages the cocking on the bolt comes out if the pin is not in. Which is different than any other R700 trigger I have

I've had very good experiences with the folks at Rifle Basix. I had one trigger that would not reset properly and they replaced it, no questions asked, and they expedited the shipping for the replacement without me asking for it.

As for the trigger falling apart, they ARE different. Reading the directions and watching the installation video helps a great deal. I have several of their L3s on varmint rifles and one on a back-up competition rifle and I'm very happy with their performance and durability. Their triggers are a good value, in my opinion.

Shilen makes a great trigger. Many great Benchrest shooters like Lou Murdica swear by them. I have seen to many people have issues with a BnA. Never have had a single issue with a Shilen
Some of the shilen triggers back in the day had some creep. Even with minimal sear engagement. I bought a shilen back in October of 24 and it’s a great trigger. No creep no issues whatsoever so ever. Now if I could get one with a long trigger shoe for my Terry Leonard 600 yard stock I’d be all set. Good trigger for sure.

I am so old fashioned that I still use Canjar LP triggers I bought in the late '70's. They work so well I never felt the need for anything else. If I had to buy a new trigger, I would likely buy Shilen first due to its simplicity. WH

Guess I’ve been doing this for a while, remember all the conversations:
Why would I spend all that $ for an ejector action?
Why would anybody spend $ for a carbon stock?
Why would anybody drop $2000 on a BR scope?
why would anybody buy a state of the art BR gun for $5000-$6000 ?
State of the art triggers look cheap in comparison FWIW.
