Why isn’t Varget ideal for 6BRA?

Super overrated? Varget might not be the best powder for a specific rifle, but it shoots good in rifles from .223 to .308 with heavy or light bullets.

H-4895 worked so well in my BRA that I never tried Varget. A lot of the guys that shoot the BRA at Williamssport switched to N-140 when 4895 became to hard to get and after talking to a lot of those fellows, most have stayed with the N-140 and are very happy with the results. Just some food for thought.

I don’t think Varget is over rated in a Bra at all, it may not get to the upper nodes as well as H4895 but Varget shoots very well as does N140.

Varget shoots well in my 6bra's as does 150. They didn't like H4895.

Barrel/bullet i am running will not work with H4895. IMO, H4895 is grossly overrated!

I meant across the board. It’s just a dirty, mid burn rate powder ………..that you can find anywhere, so it got popular.

I’m sure there’s some barrels if works great in. In fact, I think I had one… but it’s a last resort for me before declaring one a tomato stake.

With Vihtavuori having multiple powders surrounding it on the burn chart, I just can’t see why anyone would pursue Varget in this day and age.

It's been the powder 1 dasher and 2 BRA barrels have picked for me, so i don't know where that came from . It's one of the powders you should be trying on day one when you're letting the barrel pick a powder.

Varget has shot great in a couple barrels for me one a absolute hammer. It's not always the right powder but it is the right one sometimes. Over rated well maybe lol but it wins pretty often.

Should work fine with 105's around 30 grs. ,give or take a couple tenths.

Yea, lots of 6BR guys say if it won't shoot 105 gr. bullet with 30 gr. Varget something must be wrong.

When it comes down to those who think Varget does not work the question boils down to: is it the arrow or the Indian? My 6BRA has shot 48 X's out of 60 shots (3 strings of 20 each) using Varget. Not the arrow... just saying...

Varget works in a lot of things.
