First time Dasher loader, looking for 87 Vmax & 105 Hybrid powder suggestions

Just an FYI...... I COULD NOT keep any V-Max bullets together (58, 65, 75, and 87's) in my 1-8 twist tubes. I tried them in two different dasher tubes.....one with 800 rounds and one with 1800 rounds through them. POOF!! I could, however, keep the 55 and 70 grain NBT's together in my eight twist 6-47L with about 1500 rounds on it.

I just got a 1-12 twist Dasher and posted the loads for it in the Dasher sticky at the top of the page,as there was very little load data for light bullets.

Good luck,
Tod

Thanks for the info... even though that's something I didn't want to hear. I have a pile of the 87 Vmax ready to load. I went with the 7.7 twist because this is going to be a dual-use barrel for both critters (87 Vmax) and targets (105 Hybrids.) While the 7.7 twist is great for the 105's, it's obviously much faster than ideal for the 87's... but I figured the 87's would hold together.

Guess I'll find out once I get the rifle back if they hold together. Keeping my fingers crossed that they do, if not I'll try some other bullets like the NBT's and also have a slower barrel spun up just for the critter blaster loads.

Since I don't compete much any more in IBS 1K, I started shooting the 105 A-MAX instead of the Berger 105/108's in my eight twist tubes. MUCH more explosive, IMO, than the Bergers on dogs! ;) :)

You may have good luck with the 87's. You have them, so, you gotta try!! Try and test them at longer distances. The 87's did get out to 100 yards, but not 200. The lighter bullets went poof right away.

Good luck,

Tod

Go easy with the powder charge using Norma brass. I had to go down about 1 to 1.5 gr from Lapua brass or the primer pockets open up. The brass does not show any signs of pressure but the primer pockets will feel lose.
