Why I try not to ship via the US Post Office

The local USPS here is great. They do a good job most of the time. But, it's the last step before it gets here that is always messing things up. If it gets in and out of Fayetteville, N C then normally things happen O K.

My local USPS crew do a great job and when they added Amazon to their work load it doubled their hours and they got no additional employees, why they stay there is beyond me. I still use USPS here because it’s by far the most convenient, I’m a in a rural area and we don’t have a UPS or FedEx hub..

I have very little issues with the packages I send priority, every once in awhile they will miss the delivery date and the package will float around in the system. My delivered packages come in various states of condition, that includes UPs, FedEx and USPS. Our FedEx really stinks, UPS is the best out of the three for taking care of deliveries, then USPS and lastly Fedex.

USPS is usually okay at our house. FedEx has dropped packages across the street in the bar ditch by the mail box, and I’ve had other FedEx drivers back down the drive to my workshop to deliver packages. UPS deliveries have been stellar. It depends on who your driver is.

This is how the USPS delivered a package from Midway today. Dumped feet from the sidewalk; too lazy to walk to the door. It was a UPS Surepost package where the USPS handles the final leg.
These people really don't deserve taxpayer support.
USPS used to be better than it is now and with faster service. It went down hill a great deal after Louis Dejoy was appointed as PostMaster General by Trump on June 16,2020.

Dejoy removed many automated sorting machines and cut overtime without increasing staff. Prior to the appointment, he was the founder and CEO of the logistics and freight company New Breed Logistics which still has contracts with USPS and competes with USPS. Despite the obvious conflict of interest, he refused to step down.
The destroyed automated sorting machines were immediately destroyed with no plans to replace them.

Much of what has been done was to slow the post office operations which made voting in the 2020 election more difficult for many, including the military.

USPS for me is like that nursery rhyme: when they are good they are very very good and when they are bad they are horrid.

My local PO and delivery person right now are solid. But not all are.

The usps employee think they are working if they are breathing. My usps employee won’t get out of their truck and just dump packages in the driveway.

I use the USPS frequently and don't find them as bad as they are made out to be here. While there is occasional damage, in general the priority gets my products where they're intended to go and more often than not they get it to the destination in 2-3 days.

Few people talk about the fact that you get up to 70 lbs. on a flat rate, and those prices often beat out any of the competition.

The main point I want to stress here is that in the modern world, much of the shipping is all inter related in the sense that Amazon/USPS/FedEx/UPS are often partnered with each other these days and if you order on Ebay where the vendor charges you for USPS, it ships to you from Amazon.

I am often careful about what I put as the contents, any type of gun parts are not a good thing to notify the USPS that you have...like bullets as an example, I refer to those as "copper pressure testing adapters".

On top of it, the USPS will cover $100 of insurance and allow you to purchase more. They will pay quickly if there is a problem, and it is rare they need to pay on a claim, but when they do they don't waste time.

So I get it, the USPS has taken beatings over the years from most everyone, but our mail system is actually pretty darn good, IMO, for the amount of mail we ship through them.:) As far as leaving your package in your front yard as the OP showed...looks like they got your package to you and it doesn't look damaged, so what's the issue here? Are you upset you had to walk 10 feet to carry your package into the house?
I agree with you on certain aspects here but one I disagree with and would debate arduously is its not all cut and dry with them paying out claims. I've had several "excuses" from the claims department but one that rings loudly is the time the gunsmith mailed back my completed barreled action. The bolt was a PTG that was handlapped, modified and wrapped separately in the same box but at one end. They (USPS) "mishandled" the package, I'm being generous, and when I attempted to submit claim, they refused it stating the photos indicate improper packaging of product???? The box did not tear open by itself. What I believe turned them off was the amount of insurance I applied to the value of services rendered. The gunsmith, even though he made no mistake, felt bad and offered to rectify my dilema. I of course refused the offer and started over with new bolt. FedEx shipping was much more reliable. No faith in USPS. Hell, they cant even get normal mail delivery right half the time.

Maybe its just me, but in the past several years I've observed a different "outlook" with the postal service when it comes to firearm industry-related products "in transit".

all shipping organizations have incompetent employees. The examples above prove only that. The organizations themselves I think are good overall.

They have been great recently, this is favorite….this person was not walking to the house that day
