Which tuner for a 22lr

Any recommendations on a 22 tuner..
I usually shoot with a silencer as its my hunting rig..
The last batch of eley match were awesome with the silencer on..
The latest batch is dire..
I played with the rubber barrel deresonator thing Sunday but its not working for my CZ452..
Need too use up the ammo somehow

What were typical bare barrel groups with the current lot? If it's really bad, a tuner isn't going to make it shoot great. In which case, your best bet may be to sell it on and start over with a new lot of ammo since tuners are not inexpensive.

If you have a can already, I assume that your barrel is threaded. If you are determined to try to tune that lot of ammo into submission, Eric Cortina's tuners can be fit on threaded barrels, as can Aaron Hipp's Adaptive Tuner System, and PMA Tool's tuner. I have not used a threaded tuner, but have seen positive reviews of the EC version.

About 1 inch at 50yds and the last really good lot has done some high 1's and low 2's
1in at 50yds is a big group for Match under test conditions. I'm not sure a tuner would compensate for groups that big. Shooters I know with tuners use these to refine groups that are already good. 1in is either a bad batch, a bad barrel/rifle, or poor shooting/wind reading.

Rather than the expense and faff of a tuner, why not find a Prone. 22 club? Someone there will likely buy the remainder of your 1000 rounds for shooting at 25 yards. The batch would have to be appalling not to hold the NSRA 10-ring at 25 yards. That's based on 25 years shooting prone, 20+ with Eley.

Obviously, checking all the screws are tight and thoroughly cleaning the barrel (and crown since you have a mod) before trying again is worth a go. By thoroughly cleaning I mean using hsolvent (Hoppes, Parker-Hale 009, Bore-Tech, KG1 etc) and a bronze brush then patches until these emerge clean, not just a boresnake or a dry patch.

Testing the new lot with the rubber deresonator tuner butt plug thing..
Shoots the same without the rubber deresonator and just the mod on

Old rifle shot well for twenty years, and a bullet lot change shoots terrible. Buy a new lot or change ammo until you find suitable, then buy plenty.
I suspect the buying plenty part is one of the OP's reasons for wanting a tuner.

In the UK rifle shooters cannot buy unlimited quantities of ammunition. The maximum amount that can be purchased or stored* is limited. The OP has mentioned 1000 rounds, which is not uncommon for club and sporting shooters. One can ask for a higher allowance, and Home Office guidance (our Dept of the Interior that the Police answer to) is that competitive target shooters should routinely be allowed more, say 5k. But you have to show good reason, such as shooting on a county team. Wanting to buy in bulk is not enough.

Bear in mind Police Firearms Licensing Offices aren't filled with shooters, and staff probably don't expect a sporting shooter to want to batch test, if they even understand that nuance. Normally a license for vermin shooting covers zeroing, but not regular target shooting, hence ammo allowances aren't especially large. The police would expect one to join a club for regular target shooting, and most clubs sell ammo membership isn't an automatic pass to a higher holding.

*For many years these were separate; the allowance to hold was slightly higher, so one didn't have to run out completely before restocking. However this changed a few years ago, and there is now on

I thought you people over threw the king ? We have modeled USA after your failed experiment. Does anyone here know if the Declaration of Independence is still valid today ?

Thank you for that insightful and helpful comment.

Enough of England supported Parliament over Charles I, but then preferred his son over Richard Cromwell.

It's amazing that that we and the colony up north of us Canada are still intertwined after 246 yrs. We have the most bizarre group of thinkers i've ever seen in my 74 yrs. They were fairly still until the presidential election of 2008. TEA anyone ?

Why is it remarkable that two neighbouring countries with shared language and culture have relations? Europe has spent the 1600 years since the collapse of the Roman empire knocking seven bells out of their neighbour, but still recognise their connections.

Yes please to tea: milk, no sugar. Oh, and please use boiling water and leave the bags in the pot.
