22 rimfire accuracy

I've been stretching the ranges with my 22lr for a bit fun and the furthest I've shot at is 250yds..
What size 5 shot groups would be considered a good size in good conditions...?
Sunday I shot a group 3.3 inches with 3 minutes of wind on..
I use a CZ452 with eley match that can shoot nice small 5 shot groups..
A 3.3" good. With 3 moa of wind, did you have horizontal spread in your group.
I run a long range 22 Lr steel match. We shoot steel knockdowns out to 400yds. CZ's do very well. They have won the match with Vudoo's and RimX at the match.

Just keep shooting and keep push out in yardage. When go to longer ranges, it all about the ammo and the shooter knowing how to shoot in the wind.

I shoot my group long range on steel gongs. I mostly shoot our target setup. I am playing with EC V2 tuners on my Bergara's they are working great so far.

Erik's tuners work nicely

I shot some of the new batch of eley match today and they were not a patch on the last batch that I've only got 45 left of..
I didn't shoot the old batch that well today either in near perfect conditions..
Now is the time too test the barrel deresonator rubber thing I bought..
Tried it on the last batch for a couple of groups but they were already shooting great..
Got 470 too use up now...!!

Last lot of eley match right 5 shot group..
New lot left that is shocking..
No point firing 5..
I played with a rubber barrel deresonator and shot about 28 groups and none were repeatable

Key word there, repeatable.
During lot testing at Lapua my rifle shot a group that the tester said was the best he'd ever seen, but then with the same ammo it never came close again. I asked how that had happened and he replied, 'magic bullets'. He just grabbed the right 10 bullets.

I was testing some Eley in the last week and one lot was pretty consistently good and I wondered why I hadn’t been excited about it in the first test session. Then I had an FTF. Checked the box and found an FTF shell I saved from the first session because it took 4 strikes to fire. So yeah, it pays to be picky and use up every test round you can.

My problem is I was told that it can be found or made too that specification but you have too buy 5000 in real terms is about £900.
The next problem is we are limited too how much ammo we can buy and store on our firearm certificate..
Mine is too buy 1000 and keep/store 1100

then is there any point in having them lot test for you?

I could try a few shops and see if they have the lot that shoots great..
I'd be happy too buy a couple of thousand..
The limit is what you can buy at one time..
You could say you shot them all and bought another 1000 a day or 2 later but nowadays the problem with that is your ammo you bought is entered on the police's website aswell as on you FAC I think.
You gotta show your FAC to buy the ammo in the first place..

Can you pay the shop to hold the balance of a good lot?

AfAIK Eley will not make ammo to order, at least for an individual shooter. What you can do is test at the customer range to find a batch that suits your barrel (caveats about performance from the test rig vs the shoulder apply here). Traditionally the minimum order of one's chosen batch was 5K. Eley don't offer Match at the test range though.

A batch of Match (or Team,or Tenex) is typically in the low tens of thousands, so the chance of finding more after a few months is, while possible, probably slim.

Legally yes, but you need to find a shop/RFD with an Eley account that will hold 4K+ without payment for an extended period.

When testing one needs an obliging dealer to receive the ammo anyway, unless you had authorisation from said obliging dealer to take the ammo with you; Eley don't sell directly out of the factory so they need to know whom to invoice.

Thanks..
I was beginning too wonder that..!!
I found for myself how ammo varies but the more expensive ammo tends too shoot better..
I've shot several lots of eley match and they've all been good..
Still yet too try some lapua..
R50 didn't shoot anywhere near as good as eley match.
Gonna have too bite the bullet and try an LRP..
How many "lots" does an ammo manufacturer make in a day, a week, or a month~? If you find a "lot" that performs particularly well in your rifle, how would you go about finding and purchasing more of the same "lot"~?
