Which sizing die for 22BR Norma

Same here. I think I could ball park it looking at necked down case, but if someone else has already done the math, I'm not too proud to copy their work... ;)

Ahh yes, the XC should have given it away. You're not going to hear me trash talk that man. He's had a significant impact on shooting world, and I'm grateful for it.

So then the question becomes will his bushings fit any other brand of dies?

Instead of making or modifying a die, a fella could make the bushing taller and put a 30 or 40 deg chamfer on one side. Then again, it would be cheaper to just modify the die body... I just can't believe that none ALL of the other bushings aren't already made this way.....

It would seem the mod should be made to the bushing not the die. Maybe remove some of the shoulder so the bushing can go lower in the die.

It seems pretty crazy no one has ever addressed this mod over the years.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the shelf inside the die would have to be lower to use a shoulder bump die.

I was talking about relieving the shelf on the bushing to let it go lower.

These neck/shoulder bushings are for the SAC die. There is a diagram in the video that shows how the entire neck and shoulder are all sized at once with these bushings and die at the 2:26 mark

The Tubb bipod is next level.

I'm quite sure you've never actually used one if you would say something like that.
I was just looking for a new different type of bipod and did not know about Tubbs
(Was considering a Tier One Bipod)
Love Tubbs Bullets
So it looks like:
--- by turning the bipod assymetrically,
---you can splay the legs further out
---for more stability?

Everyone pretty much nailed die options.

What sets the 'Norma' apart from the standard BR is the throat dimension. The standard Remington, non-Norma was throated for light, flat base benchrest bullets. The Norma spec is long freebore to fit VLD style heavy bullets. Body dies and FL or neck dies don't differentiate between the case itself, and Norma dies should have a seating stem suitable for long pointy bullets.

The one leg forward one back keeps the bipod from hopping at all. Since the legs are in two different planes.

On the Redding BR dies....even though they are marked 'Rem', Redding long ago changed the internal dimensions to work with the 'Norma' spec brass, which is bigger at the back end.

The 'Norma' spec neck length is .040 longer than the original 'Rem' spec chambers (1.560 versus 1.520).

As a point of interest, one of my 22BR's was done with the earlier 'Rem' spec. reamer.

Lapua brass fits by simply trimming the neck length back .040 and touching up the back ends with a carbide 45ACP f.l. die. For full length sizing, a Redding #77316 'Type S' f.l. bushing die works nicely. Every third or fourth firing, the back ends get a smooch with the 45ACP die. A 308-family small base die also works.

Good shootin' :) -Al
