Which Dog makes the best shop,, life, shooting companion?

Two English Mastiffs. Brother & sister. Bonnie & Clyde. Loyal, large and larger. Struggle to keep Clyde under 200lbs. Gentle giants.

I think the best dog is the one you have right next to ya...:)

My constant sidekick is lil' red cur dog, general nuisance on all things furry. Tracking & treeing fool on cats & coons!

He cheats so bad on a hot track that sometimes they don't get a chance to climb. He keeps a still mouth and will flat run one down before they know what happened. Sure keeps things interesting after dark, LOL

And he likes to kill 'chucks as much as I do! We'll run/ride meadows and he will locate active holes for us to sit on, later in the day...

Soon as I shoot, he'll find that 'chuck & even retrieve them...

A good friend told me that "you only get one really special dog in your life". Well, this little red rocket is mine, and he reminds me every day of it. We sure have a pisser together!!!

Beautiful dogs, gents! All the best you & your four legged friends...

My shop dogs, couldn't ask for better ones, although the mahogany can be quite a diva.
In order, Molly, Remy (guess where that name comes from) and Maggie. All 3 from the same breeder and have the same sire.

Remy resembles my Snert

Labrador retriever, no question. They're smart, loyal, friendly, great with kids, and come in three different colors, often in the same litter. This is one dog almost guaranteed not to bite and most of them are very unlikely to fight with other dogs too. This can be a huge advantage in peace of mind and for your wallet too. Your "sweet" Pit Bull might be great around your family but these powerful dogs can cause great damage both to humans and especially to other dogs. You can turn your Lab loose in a hunting-camp setting where there are other dogs and not be concerned about a big fight. With a typical Pit Bull you never know what will happen.

A lot of the hunting dog breeds are great when you're on the hunt, but many of them are high strung and some can be half witted and a little bit hyper. They can be great "tools", but often fall short when it comes to being a good all-round family dog.

Beagles, for example, are great dogs when it comes to looks and size and they're typically very smart. But they are more loyal to the scent of a rabbit than you. If the rabbit runs all the way to Newark, your Beagle will follow. I prefer a dog which will not cause me too many worries.

I had a co-worker that was like a beagle...so dedicated and focused that she would run into a twelve lane roadway during rush hour with no thought. Just like my beagle on a rabbit...

Just looked at the trip computer on my Garmin Alpha's handheld, and I've followed that nutball over 2,500 miles now o_O And that's just in the last 4 seasons,or so! (The Alpha only came out in mid 2012).
Who knows how many miles he's covered. Easily twice that, with how he ranges.
Seems like it was just yesterday when we got his 1st coyote @ 13weeks old...

Never a dull moment with him around!!!

Ive seen this dog work...what a hoot. He and Fredo make a pair, that is for sure! Pure octane mixed with adrenaline, and a dash of concentration.

They both live life fully, that is for sure.

My girls, Rose & Lucy, also members of the "Most Spoiled" Club. When I'm in my gun room, they're always at my feet....gotta watch every step I take or I'll trip over one of them every time.

One attribute of these dogs: I smile every time I see one of them.

I just realize I LOOK like the one on the left! Amazing that Fredo and Pokie would even consider hunting with me!

I am a border collie person, But i am a farmer so, hes with me 24-7, very smart, loyal, as long as hes in view of me hes happy.

20150606_122838.jpg Here's mine, ole Festus Hagen, taken last summer. He lacked about a month and a half of making it 15 years, which I've never heard of with a Pointer before. He could barely hear anything for the last couple years but was pointing birds in December. Had to bury him the 29th of February.
