MY BEST FRIEND

GREAT! Just the way I wanted to start the day, wiping tears out of my eyes.

So sorry about Norman, but I know exactly where you are, had to put our Schnauzer Max down in December, and when I really get to thinking about him, I still "mist up". One of the most important parts of pet ownership is doing what's best for them in a situation like this, I have seen people in similar situations keep a suffering dog with no quality of life alive because they just can't "bring themselves to do it", to me that's really abuse.

Do what's best for Norman, because he always did his best for you, I have no regrets about euthanizing Max, 100% correct decision, we could have kept him alive a few more weeks to a couple of months, but, he was suffering and had zero chance of survival, did not want to put him through the pain just for the sake of keeping him alive.

DAMN I MISS THAT DOG!

PM me if you need a shoulder.

I have had Norman a German Short Hair Pointer for some 12 years. He originally was my ex wive's dog and she gave him and a female to me. Since then Jenny passed away some 4 years ago and now Normy is nearing the end and I cant believe how hard it is hitting me. I just would like some prayers he makes it through this weekend but I just don't know. His hind legs are getting very weak and that is what we will judge when to put him to sleep. I know this is off topic but our Dog's are man's best friend . Dog's only ask for kindness and food and a nice place to sleep yet they never judge us they only Love us from birth till the end. We ought to have a national holiday to honor every Dog(God spelled backwards) like service Dog's right on down to lap Dog's. They can be bad but we forgive them immediately, they can be sneaky but then we laugh. We are sick and they will lay right in your bed till you recover. They protect you right up to a fight and will give their precious life to protect us. They are a gift from God.
GSP I had my GSP for 14 years. When she passed it broke my heart she was my best friend am so glad that I have the memories.

Very sorry to hear that you will loose your friend. I know how much it hurts.

We lost our Tasha, a Golden Retriever a week after I lost my father. We had her for 11 years, a rescue dog that was 5 when she came to us. My dad liked dogs but would never have one of his own. He always said that if he did, he would want one like Tasha. I like to think that they are together now.

I saw Tasha's little white face periodically down the hall for about a year after we lost her. I am sure it was my mind playing tricks. But in a way, it made me sad and happy at the same time.

We went about a year before we rescued our little Maltese. Never got into small dogs before but she is a kick. Very animated and smart. Don't let too much time go by without a fury friend. They give us so much more than we can imagine.

We just lost my in-laws lab. They got him as a puppy when I was dating my wife so I’ve known him our entire time together. He wasn’t even my dog but it was tough. We have a 12 year old beagle and a 13 year old Swissy. My wife is on edge everyday with our dogs even though you wouldn’t know they were that old (still happy, running around, gets up on the couch no problem).

Even though it’s sad, that’s a great post. You’ll make it through. Have a good weekend.

jonbearman, you have my sympathy. On my 5th generation of labs and every one of them was an individual, with different qualities that endured them to me. When my last one pasted, it was the first time my sons saw dad cry. Will pray for you.
